We offer a friendly, professional atmosphere with excellent benefits and a salary commensurate with experience.Job DescriptionThe Project Engineer will be involved with the production and coordination of several projects concurrently. This position performs a full range of professional railway engineering assignments in a full-functioning capacity. Considerable independent judgment is required to carry out assignments that have an impact on services or programs. Guidelines may be available to complete the project, but each project will require adaptation or interpretation of the guidelines to determine appropriate courses of action. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, technically proficient, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, and is team oriented. The ideal candidate is also willing to travel periodically.DutiesPrepare railway and transit designs including development of plans and specificationsResponsible for the completion of high-quality rail and transit engineering projects on budget and schedule with a high level of customer satisfactionEnsure that all design documents, reports, inspections, and information required to serve the client are properly prepared and reportedEnsure client schedules are metSupport the Senior Project Managers through the entire project's development to complete documents on schedulePreparation and checking of design calculations, quantities, cost estimates, specifications, and project plansGuidelines may be available but require adaptation or interpretation to determine appropriate courses of actionAvailability to support the TYPSA Group Railway Department in overseas projectsJob Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills)Minimum bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalentMinimum of 5 years of experience on Rail and Transit projects and preferred with experience with California transportation/transit agencies, including LA Metro, Metrolink, RCTC, OCTA, SANBAG, and Amtrak as well as Class I railroads operating in the regionCalifornia P.E. certification or able to get California PE within 6 months of hireProficiency with AutoCAD and MicroStationExperience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrierPrimavera and Project Wise software is a plusLocal experience in California is highly preferredCompetencies (To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies)Communicative – interacts openly with others; can maintain relationships, works well independently or with a team.Consultative - Consults with other disciplines as needed; tolerates different perspectives or opinions.Decisive & Action Oriented - Has a high level of energy and stamina; gets things done; makes sound educated but rapid decisions even when short of information; enjoys managing challenging projects and works well in fast-paced and pressure environments.
