Legislative Analyst (Government Relations Relations Specialist II) Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) Location Austin, Texas Salary (Monthly) $6,667.00 - $7,084.00 Job Summary Government Relations is seeking a Legislative Analyst. The Analyst supports legislative tracking, policy analysis, and agency engagement with the Texas Legislature. Responsibilities include monitoring legislation, analyzing potential impacts to the agency, preparing briefings, reports, and responses for leadership, and collaborating with internal staff and legislative office to gather information, support legislative hearings, and ensure timely, accurate communication throughout the legislative process. Responsibilities Monitor and track legislative activity relevant to the public utility sector. Analyze proposed legislation and assess potential impacts on PUCT operations. Prepare briefings, reports, and policy briefs for senior leadership. Collaborate with internal staff and legislative office to gather information and support legislative hearings. Communicate timely and accurately with legislative stakeholders and agency leadership during the legislative process. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in political science, public affairs, economics, government, or a related field from an accredited institution. Minimum of two (2) years of full‑time experience working with the state legislature, governmental relations, or a related field. Preferred Qualifications Experience tracking and analyzing legislation during a legislative session. Experience preparing bill analyses, policy briefs, or legislative reports. Experience working in or with a state agency, legislative office, or governmental relations function. Veteran Preference Veterans, Reservists, or Guardsmen with military occupational specialties that meet the minimum qualifications are encouraged to apply. Required Veteran documentation: DD 214 for veteran, marriage certificate and DD 1300 for surviving spouse of a deceased veteran, birth certificate and DD 1300 for an orphan of a killed veteran. Employment Requirements Completion of EVerify+ employment eligibility verification. Legal authorization to work in the United States at the time of hire. Any required professional license (e.g., Professional Engineer or Texas attorney) must be verified if applicable. A satisfactory driving record is required for agency travel.
