Job Title: Heavy Industrial Mechanical Assembler
Job Description
This role focuses on assembling large, custom-designed multi-level platform. You will work from detailed engineering drawings and blueprints to gather materials, assemble structural components, install mechanical systems, and integrate basic electrical elements such as motors and sensors. Using a variety of hand and power tools, you will build each platform level-by-level and support testing to ensure proper operation, fit, and function.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, layouts, and assembly instructions to plan and execute builds accurately.
- Assemble custom multi-level aviation access platforms from the ground up, following specified dimensions and configurations.
- Install and align mechanical components including motors, gearboxes, bearings, and moving assemblies to ensure smooth and reliable operation.
- Assist with the installation of powered systems that enable platforms to raise, lower, extend, and position correctly around aircraft and aviation equipment.
- Perform fitting, fastening, drilling, and alignment of structural and mechanical components using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Use hand and power tools such as sockets, wrenches, and impact guns to assemble and secure components safely and efficiently.
- Measure and cut metals accurately using a tape measure and cutting tools to meet design specifications.
- Assist with basic electrical assembly tasks, including wiring junction boxes and connecting electrical components as part of the overall equipment build.
- Wire up motors and sensors as required to support the mechanical and electrical functionality of the platforms.
- Verify the proper operation, fit, and function of completed assemblies, making adjustments as needed to meet quality and performance standards.
- Follow established assembly procedures, safety guidelines, and quality standards throughout the build process.
- Collaborate with other team members in assembly, maintenance, and electrical areas to complete projects on schedule.
Essential Skills
- At least 3 years of manufacturing assembly experience, preferably with a mechanical back ground assembling custom machinery, testing equipment, conveyor systems, or similar industrial products.
- Proficiency in mechanical assembly, including building large industrial or mechanical products from engineering drawings and schematics.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, layouts, work schematics, and assembly instructions accurately.
- Strong hand and power tool skills, including experience using sockets, wrenches, impact guns, and related equipment.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately and use it to cut and measure metals to specified dimensions.
- Experience wiring motors and sensors as part of mechanical and basic electrical assembly work.
- Capability to perform basic electrical assembly tasks, including electrical wiring, connecting components, and working with junction boxes.
- Comfort working in a role that is approximately 80% mechanical and 20% electrical.
- back ground in assembly production, machine building, or mechanical maintenance.
- Ability to install and align mechanical components such as gearboxes, bearings, and moving assemblies.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to verify proper fit, function, and operation of completed assemblies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with electrical assembly in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- back ground in carpentry or structural assembly, particularly with metal structures.
- Experience as a maintenance technician, mechanic, or similar trade role involving mechanical and basic electrical work.
- Familiarity with assembling conveyor systems, custom machinery, or large mechanical equipment.
- Comfort working with powered systems that raise, lower, extend, or position equipment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team in a production environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues during assembly.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Apopka, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
