We are seeking an experienced Precision Wire EDM Technician to set up, program, and operate wire electrical-discharge machining equipment in a high-precision manufacturing environment. This individual will produce complex, close-tolerance components while maintaining exceptional quality standards, machine uptime, and safe operating practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and adjust CNC wire EDM machines to manufacture precision components from engineering drawings, work instructions, and 3D solid models.

• Create, edit, and optimize wire EDM programs using 2D prints, CAD data, and part-model geometry.

• Select appropriate tooling, wire type, fixtures, cutting parameters, offsets, and machining strategies based on material, geometry, finish requirements, and tolerances.

• Machine parts to extremely close tolerances, including tolerances as tight as ±0.0002 inch, while meeting dimensional and surface-finish specifications.

• Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, pin gauges, optical comparators, and CMMs as applicable.

• Interpret GD&T, blueprints, setup sheets, and inspection requirements to verify conformance throughout the machining process.

• Troubleshoot machining, programming, setup, wire-break, flushing, accuracy, and quality issues; make appropriate adjustments to maintain production efficiency.

• Conduct routine preventative maintenance, keep equipment clean and organized, and report mechanical or operational concerns promptly.

• Maintain accurate production, setup, inspection, and quality documentation in accordance with internal procedures.

• Work closely with engineering, quality, toolroom, and production personnel to resolve manufacturability concerns and support continuous-improvement initiatives.

• Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and housekeeping expectations in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on CNC wire EDM setup, programming, and operating experience in a precision machining, toolroom, mold-making, aerospace, medical-device, defense, or similar manufacturing environment.

• Demonstrated ability to independently set up and run wire EDM equipment from start to finish.

• Experience with AgieCharmilles wire EDM machines is strongly preferred; experience with comparable equipment will also be considered.

• Ability to generate and modify programs from 2D drawings and 3D solid models.

• Strong understanding of wire EDM cutting principles, materials, flushing, offsets, skim cuts, taper cutting, and process optimization.

• Proven ability to consistently hold close tolerances, including ±0.0002 inch, and inspect completed work accurately.

• Proficiency reading complex mechanical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.

• Familiarity with precision measuring tools and quality-control processes.

• Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and commitment to producing high-quality work.

• Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with a collaborative manufacturing team.
