Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking experienced Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Hospitalist Physicians for a locum tenens opportunity in Pulaski, Virginia .

This is a hands-on Hospital Medicine opportunity for physicians who enjoy maintaining meaningful clinical involvement across both the medical floor and ICU. Physicians work alongside an NP/PA during the daytime, manage patients within an 8-bed open ICU , respond to codes and rapid responses, and provide ventilator management within a community acute-care environment.

Schedule & Coverage

Daytime Hospital Medicine coverage runs:

7:00 AM–5:00 PM

The daytime team consists of:

• 1 Hospitalist Physician
• 1 Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

At night, an NP/PA provides onsite coverage with a physician available on call.

Multiple scheduling configurations are available based on current coverage needs and physician availability.

Hospital Medicine Practice

Physicians provide comprehensive inpatient medical management within a community acute-care hospital with access to supporting specialties including:

• Cardiology
• Emergency Medicine
• Gastroenterology
• Oncology
• Orthopedics
• Surgery
• Women's Health
• Behavioral Health

The hospital also provides emergency, diagnostic imaging, cancer, and cardiovascular services.

ICU & Clinical Scope

This opportunity is best suited for a Hospitalist comfortable maintaining an active role in higher-acuity inpatient medicine.

The program features an 8-bed open ICU without a dedicated Critical Care team .

Physicians must be comfortable with:

• Hospital Medicine admissions and management
• Open ICU patient management
• Ventilator management
• Rapid responses
• Code response
• Collaboration with onsite APPs
• Coordination with consulting specialties
• Meditech Expanse documentation

Intubation and central line placement experience is preferred.

This is an excellent fit for physicians who want to practice the broader scope of Hospital Medicine rather than work within a highly segmented closed-ICU model.

Candidate Requirements

• MD or DO
• Active, unrestricted Virginia medical license
• Active DEA with Virginia address
• Completed Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Current ACLS
• Minimum 2 years of current clinical experience
• Comfortable managing ventilated patients
• Comfortable responding to codes and rapid responses
• Ability to perform all privileges requested for the assignment

Recent case logs and credentialing documentation will be required.
