JOB SUMMARY

Fabricate, assemble and weld stainless (MIG and TIG) steel, aluminum and mild steel assemblies for fire apparatus. Weld pipe and other components as needed. Assist other departments in the Company, as needed. Assure all work is to company standards. Maintaining clean and neat work area. Clean shop as needed, which may include lawn care, snow removal, sweeping, etc. Report to Lead Man for daily tasks. Complete required paperwork accurately. Travel occasionally as needed as a representative of the Company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

· Mig weld aluminum and stainless steel.

· Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.

· Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.

· Examine workpieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications.

· Check groves, angles, or gap allowance, using micrometers, calipers, and precision measuring instruments.

· Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or portalbe grinders.

· Hammer out bulges or bends in metal workpieces.

· Operate drill presses, power saws, grinders and a variety of welding equipment and hand tools.

· Weld components and frames to exact tolerances.

· Detect faulty operation and/or defective materials and notify supervisor.

· Communicate with the Building Foreman any issue(s) related to performing the duties of this position.

· Comply with organizations specific policies and procedures and safety and health standards including housekeeping standards.

· Any and all other assignments deemed necessary to improve the wellbeing of the company.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Manufacturing environment; may be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials.
