Groundskeeper

Overview The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic appearance of the school’s outdoor areas. This role supports a welcoming and professional environment that reflects the school’s values and enhances the educational experience for students, staff, and visitors. Essential Job Functions Maintain the overall appearance of the property to consistently meet or exceed the school’s standards. Mow, edge, and trim lawns regularly. Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment in a safe and responsible manner. Maintain flowerbeds by removing weeds and planting seasonal flowers. Water plants as needed to ensure healthy landscaping. Perform daily litter removal throughout the property. Clean breezeways and walkways. Apply insecticides, fertilizers, and herbicides as necessary. Re-seed and replant lawn areas as needed. Prune trees and shrubs properly to promote healthy growth and appearance. Remove weeds from lawns and all landscaped areas. Provide support for community events and functions as part of the team. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or administrator. Qualifications Knowledge of landscaping tools, equipment, and safety practices. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Detail-oriented and well-organized. Positive, team-oriented attitude with the ability to work independently. Knowledge of safe work practices. Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Professional demeanor and commitment to maintaining a positive school image. Physical Demands Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods. Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. Must be able to walk the property and climb stairs as needed. Requires manual dexterity and physical stamina for operating tools and equipment. Educational and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalent.
