About Vatn Systems Vatn Systems is an innovative startup at the forefront of designing and manufacturing autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). Our mission is to revolutionize underwater security, exploration, research, and operations through cutting‑edge technology and unparalleled engineering. Our AUVs are defining the next generation of underwater autonomy. As a Senior Signal Processing Engineer, you will be a key technical contributor to the development of detection, classification, localization, and tracking (DCLT) algorithms for Vatn’s underwater acoustic sensors. Responsibilities Algorithm development & refinement for forward looking sonar products System Hardening: Analyze real-world data to improve robustness against complex acoustic environments. Algorithms Improvement: Propose and implement improvements to the homing system and target management framework to increase mission reliability. Develop automated data analysis pipelines from data collect to metrics reporting DCLT Algorithm Implementation: Develop detection, classification, localization, and tracking algorithms Implementation & Edge Optimization Edge Deployment: Translate high‑level algorithm into prototypes into efficient, real‑time code optimized for deployment on embedded edge‑compute hardware. Modeling & performance validation Support in‑water development and in‑water integration testing of the homing system Work with key stakeholders – internal and external (government) – to translate mission CONOPS and requirements to robust testing programs to validate homing performance Develop detailed sonar equation models of active and passive acoustic devices and systems for internal/external project support. Required Secret Clearance Demonstrated knowledge of statistical signal processing, tracking algorithms, acoustic signal processing and machine learning Ability to analyze and deploy algorithms at the edge: embedded signal processing Matlab, Python, C/C++ Vatn is an equal opportunity employer, and we welcome candidates from all backgrounds to apply.
