Medication Specialist (2nd Shift)

The Medication Specialist reports directly to the Program Director. FLSA Status : Hourly, Non-Exempt Schedule : Wednesday through Sunday 3PM – 11PM Essential Duties and Responsibilities Orienting new clients to Program medication policies and procedures Follow established protocols for safe medication handling, storage, and disposal In partnership with the Program Director, monitors and evaluates processes to ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and standards. Identifies gaps, recommends corrective actions, and implements process improvements in response to evolving requirements and best practices. Log new client medications at admission, writing out prescribed schedules and dosage instructions Log renewed medications as needed, observing prescribed schedules and dosage instructions Manage & maintain client medication log; update emergency fact sheets Monitor client medication counts/assist clients with refill requests as needed Maintaining an accurate record of medications Prepare/log client medications for off-site usage (work/school/volunteering) Monitor qualifying clients to filling weekly pill planner Observing and supporting clients taking their medications as prescribed Monitoring medication adherence and notifying the appropriate team member when a medication is being taken incorrectly Ensuring accurate return and release of medications to clients at discharge Maintaining accurate documentation of all medication stored and disposed of Witnessing medication disposal and transportation of disposal of excess controlled meds Monitor clients for any adverse side-effects of medications Report all medication errors and incidents to supervisor promptly Checking and replacing expired facility-supplied medications, including OTCs, Narcan and First Aid Kits Stocking the medication room with the appropriate supplies such as medication cups, counting trays and spatulas, and cleaning those supplies on a regular basis to prevent medication cross-contamination Monitor medication refrigerator and record refrigerator temperatures daily May carry a small caseload Any other duties assigned by management Supervisory / Management: No supervisory responsibilities of staff Qualifications and Experience: A working knowledge of addiction and recovery issues. Excellent attention to detail High school diploma or equivalent and some experience in human services or additional services. At the discretion of the Link House management, qualifying criteria may be waived in whole or part where and when deemed appropriate. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to pass CPR certification within the first 6 months of employment. Always maintains the highest levels of confidentiality regarding HIPAA & 42 CFR Part II standards. Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings: CORI, and drug screen Environment and Physical Requirements This position operates in a residential setting. Regularly required to sit, walk and stand Talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; Reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Expected Compensation: $20 – $25 per hour The listed pay range reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting the position.
