Senior Benefits Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:


The Senior Benefits Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day administration of BAC's employee benefit programs. This position serves as a primary resource for employees and independently manages benefit enrollments, eligibility, benefit reconciliations, employee inquiries, and related HRIS transactions. The Senior Benefits Specialist works closely with the Benefits Manager, payroll, HR team members, benefit carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators to ensure accurate and timely administration and resolution of benefit and leave matters.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Benefits Administration

• Administer employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, HSA/FSA, COBRA, and other employer-sponsored benefits.
• Process benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, qualifying life events, and eligibility updates.
• Review and reconcile benefit elections, carrier records, payroll deductions, and HRIS data and resolve discrepancies.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefit questions and assist employees with enrollment, eligibility, coverage, and carrier issues.
• Support annual open enrollment, including system preparation, employee communications, enrollment activities, and post-enrollment audits.
• Maintain accurate benefit records and documentation.

Retirement, SCA and Compliance Suppor t

• Support day-to-day retirement plan administration, including employee inquiries, eligibility, data maintenance, and vendor coordination.
• Administer applicable Service Contract Act (SCA) Health & Welfare benefit processes and maintain required records.
• Support required benefit notices, reporting, audits, and compliance activities.
• Identify discrepancies or potential compliance concerns and promptly escalate them to the Benefits Manager.

HRIS, Vendor and Data Administration

• Maintain accurate benefit and leave information in Paylocity and applicable carrier and vendor systems.
• Coordinate benefit and leave information with payroll to ensure accurate deductions and payments.

Supervisory Responsibility:

• None

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field, supplemented by three (3) or more years of progressively responsible benefits administration experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
• Experience with HRIS and payroll systems
• Must satisfy Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Level 2 background screening requirements

• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain a driving record that meets BAC standards, and have reliable transportation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience administering health and welfare benefits and employee leave programs.
• Paylocity experience.
• Experience with retirement plans and/or SCA Health & Welfare benefits.
• Benefits or Human Resources certification.

TRAVEL


Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of area and overnight travel will be expected.



WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE (IF APPLICABLE)


Must be authorized to access and work on government installations.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


This is a primarily sedentary position that requires sitting (or standing) at a computer for extended periods of time. Some light lifting (up to 20 pounds) may be required. Physical Requirements can be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:


Tasks are regularly performed in an air-conditioned office. Some work will be performed outdoors with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, heat, cold, rain, fumes).



SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:


Some tasks require manual dexterity.



AVAILABILITY: Full Time



SALARY: Starting at $54,000 per year
