We are looking for an experienced Project Controller to support accounting operations for a manufacturing environment. This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for a hands-on individual who can lead month-end activities, strengthen financial controls, and provide insight into project and cost performance. The position also plays a key role in improving reporting workflows, supporting process automation efforts, and helping develop accounting staff without direct people management responsibility.

Responsibilities:
• Lead the month-end close process, ensuring financial results are accurate, timely, and well supported by documentation.
• Oversee project and manufacturing cost accounting activities to improve visibility into spending, profitability, and operational performance.
• Perform margin and cost analysis to identify trends, explain variances, and support better business decisions.
• Evaluate accounting procedures and internal controls, identifying weaknesses and recommending practical improvements.
• Assist with SOX-related reviews and audit readiness by helping address control gaps and strengthening compliance practices.
• Support ongoing efforts to automate manual accounting workflows and reduce reliance on paper-based processes.
• Contribute to implementation-related accounting activities as needed, ensuring financial processes remain controlled and effective.
• Use advanced Excel skills to analyze large data sets, prepare reconciliations, and produce meaningful financial reporting.
• Provide guidance, training, and day-to-day support to staff members to help build capability across the team.• Strong experience in project accounting, cost accounting, and manufacturing accounting environments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of internal controls, control assessments, and financial process improvement.
• Familiarity with SOX compliance, audit support, and identifying process or control deficiencies.
• Proven ability to take ownership of the month-end close process in a fast-paced setting.
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to work effectively with detailed financial data.
• Ability to perform margin analysis and translate findings into clear business insights.
• Experience supporting team development through coaching, training, or informal mentorship.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
