Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU)

Our professional rehab staff work alongside other healthcare professionals to enhance patients' functional recovery, facilitate successful discharges, and elevate patient care through unit and system-based quality initiatives, evidence-based research and practice, and true interdisciplinary care. Leaders and staff are focused on exceptional patient outcomes and are defining healthcare for the 21st century.

SLPs at GW Hospital are expected to collaborate closely with the entire interdisciplinary care team, especially Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physicians and advanced practice providers, Rehab nurses, OTs, PTs, and case management. This collaboration includes formal, in-person team conference meetings several times per week to discuss each patient's plan of care and progress.

Unique patient populations and features of the ARU include Stroke, Trauma (including SCI), LVAD, Organ Transplant, Trach, Head and Neck Cancer, Rehab Gym and Dining Room, BITS Board, IOPI.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
• Minimum 1-year post-graduation experience in inpatient rehab or acute care
• Independent in performing MBSS
• Independent in performing FEES preferred
• Independent with speaking valve assessment and treatment for trach patients weaned from vent
