Senior Development Project Manager - Renewable (Multiple Levels, Senior & Principal)

Any remote work is expected to be performed from an employee’s primary residence, unless allowed (or prohibited) through the Company’s remote work guidelines.Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.Job Summary: Supports community engagement efforts in collaboration with other customers and community-facing groups within the company as needed. Oversees development and completion of utility-scale with a capacity of 1 megawatt (MW) or greater, renewable energy construction projects from land development through notice-to-proceed (NTP) for construction. Facilitates project management requirements, including scope of work, scheduling, estimating, engineering, and project construction specifications. Ensures project completion by identifying potential projects and advancing them through the development process, engineering design, permitting, pre-construction, and transition to construction. Assists teams to ensure successful project completion—span of control: 0; individual contributor.Key Accountabilities:Supports community engagement efforts to achieve project outcomes, including direct engagement in community meetingsLeads wind and/or solar projects through development activities in early, mid, and/or late stages of the projectFacilitates a team of specialists who provide project schedule, cost estimates, and construction engineering specifications for renewable energy projectsOversees project expenditures and cost-effective procurement of labor, equipment, and materials; coordinates with authorized company representatives in conducting bid meetings and reviews, supplier selections and evaluations, and determining contracting strategy aligned with labor utilization strategiesCommunicates project status to all stakeholders, including leadership levels, and engages stakeholders in decisions to ensure a clear understanding of direction and expectationsIdentifies potential renewable project development opportunities, including negotiating leases, easements, and other agreementsAssists the development team in the preparation of marketing and generation of potential renewable development opportunities and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) proposalsEvaluates conditions and executes solutions to control project risk with leadershipEnsures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including documentation and record-keeping requirementsAssess renewable energy market conditions, trends, and opportunities across multiple political and geographic environments and marketsParticipation in industry working groups related to potential or proposed renewable energy policy changes or new initiativesMinimum Education & Experience Requirement:This is a multi-track-based job; education and experience requirements can be satisfied through one of the following options:Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of project management experience (e.g., scheduling, estimating, project risk management, and construction management), inclusive of 2 years in renewable energy/community development/community engagement projects; ORAssociate degree and 7-9 years of project management experience (e.g., scheduling, estimating, project risk management, and construction management), inclusive of 2 years in renewable energy/community development/community engagement projects; ORHigh school diploma or GED and 9-11 years of project management experience (e.g., scheduling, estimating, project risk management, and construction management), inclusive of 2-3 years in renewable energy/community development/community engagement projectsOther QualificationsPreferred:Bachelor’s degreeExperience in engineering, construction management, or business administration.Experience in the renewable energy sectorExperience in local project siting and permitting (including engagement with public officials and community members before, during, and after public meetings)Project Management Professional (PMP) certificationOther Requirements:Proficiency with project management softwareAbility to manage the development and strategic process for wind and/or solar energy projects.Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, be flexible, and work under changing and competing priorities.Ability to coordinate deadlines and logistics to lead work processes within an agreed-upon time frame successfully.Ability to balance multiple demands from leaders, peers, and partners in a positive and even-handed manner and display a calm demeanor under pressureAdditional InformationIncumbents may engage in all or some combination of the activities and accountabilities and utilize a variety of the competencies cited in this description depending upon the organization and role to which they are assigned.
