Maintenance Engineer III

EO/AA This position is the senior level position and is responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the assigned building as well as performing routine and preventative maintenance, analyzing and repairing mechanical and electrical problems, making adjustments, and other corrective actions to ensure the continuous and safe functioning of the healthcare physical environment. This position functions under the guidance of a team lead or above. This position is not responsible for providing direct patient care. Responsibilities Essential Functions Performs all of the duties of a Maintenance Engineer I and II. Procures necessary parts and equipment in support of assigned duties. Performs all necessary functions in the established CMMS system, including developing new assets, procedures, work orders and compliance reporting. Mentors general maintenance workers and maintenance engineers. Completes required after‑hours on‑call rotation. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Verifiable understanding of NFPA 101 life safety code based on competency testing. Verifiable understanding of DNV NIAHO standards. Demonstrated knowledge of hot water systems, boiler theory and function, and chiller system theory. Demonstrated knowledge of Fire Barrier theory and NFPA requirements for sealing penetrations, fire alarm systems theory and testing. Demonstrated knowledge of medical gasses control and isolation valve theory. Demonstrated knowledge of CMS function. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer functions. Ability to read blueprints. Ability to participate in after hours on‑call rotation. Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently or in a group. Ability to follow specific directions. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Qualifications Required Six (6) years of hands‑on, building related maintenance and repair experience in one (1) or more of the following areas: pipefitting, HVACR, steam‑operated systems used for humidification and sterilization, pneumatic and electronic building control systems (BAC), plumbing systems, commercial or industrial laundry equipment, sterilizing equipment, gas or diesel engines and generators, kitchen and cafeteria equipment, mechanical and electrical systems, carpentry, troubleshooting, or welding and fabrication. At least three (3) of the accepted certifications or licensures that fall under any of the following categories: Professional trade license (plumbing, electrical, etc.), Professional trade certifications (HVAC, contractor, MedGas, OSHA, building operator, firestopping, emergency power, ASHE Certified Health Care Physical Environment Worker, etc.), or another potentially applicable certification or license, as pre‑approved by FM leadership. Depending upon department of hire, a valid, State of Utah Driver's License may be required. Preferred Healthcare related maintenance and repair experience. Working Conditions and Physical Demands Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation. The position may involve moving heavy equipment and/or supplies.
