Together, the FAS seeks to foster an environment of ambition, curiosity and shared commitment to knowledge and truth that elicits excellence from all members of our community and prepares the next generation of leaders through a transformative educational experience.Job DescriptionJob Summary: This position will support the Research Integrity Office in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences with a primary focus on school-wide efforts to foster a culture of research integrity through education and training. The Program Manager for Research Integrity will lead the delivery of research integrity education programming which may include curriculum design and development, logistics management, program analysis, and project management. In addition, they will work in concert with the Director of Research Integrity/Research Integrity Officer to implement the FAS, Harvard University, and federal research policies on handling allegations of research misconduct.The Program Manager will interface extensively with other members of the University research community; major collaborative touch points will be with faculty-chaired committees, the FAS Office of Research Administration, the Office of Post-Doctoral Affairs, the HMS Office for Academic and Research Integrity, the Administrative Board of the Harvard Kenneth C. Griffin Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the Office of the Vice Provost for Research, the Harvard University Information Security and Data Privacy team, and the Title IX Office.In collaboration with, and at the direction of, the Director of Research Integrity, the Program Manager role will include the following responsibilities:Job Specific Responsibilities:Support research misconduct policy implementation, case processes, and related administrative procedures across the FASDevelop, update, and implement standard operating procedures in research misconduct case management that align with all applicable federal regulations and guidanceResearch and develop research integrity educational curriculum portfolio contents, and online materialsLead development of communication and outreach strategy; foster and maintain relationships within the University research community to increase interest, awareness, and participation in educational programsLead administrative program development which may include recommendation and implementation of enrollment processes, program scheduling, tracking, and reporting; establish workflows in collaboration with all stakeholdersDevelop strong working relationships with faculty, staff, and other internal and external stakeholders associated with educational program; manage scope of delivery and regularly inform stakeholders of program-related activity and/or decisionsDevelop specialized reports and analyze relevant metrics to define and evaluate program success and to track and comply with any reporting requirementsEnsure compliance with University policies and procedures and applicable federal rules and regulationsAdditional Responsibilities:Reporting to the Director of Research Integrity, the Program Manager will work independently, performing a wide range of projects and initiatives. The Program Manager will interface with the research community regarding the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) course offerings and support the work of the Research Integrity Officer’s case work. Projects and priorities in the following areas will evolve as needs arise:Development, implementation and management of the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) curriculumDevelopment and implementation of an evaluation plan to assess the effectiveness of the RCR curriculumDevelopment and maintenance of an online presence for the Research Integrity Office to include a website repository of RCR materials and resourcesAssistance with case management of research misconduct cases, including but not limited to sequestrations and forensic analysis, report drafting, committee training and support, and administrative dutiesWork with stakeholders across the FAS to update and implement the Guidelines for Authorship and Acknowledgement, and support the resolution of authorship and collaboration disputes across the FASManage budget and process expensesWorking Conditions: This is a hybrid role and on-campus work is performed in offices and lecture halls, primarily.Physical Requirements: Transporting training materials to various campus locations QualificationsBasic Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of related experience. Additional Qualifications and Skills: Experience within an academic research setting; direct experience with federal regulations and research policies Advanced degree preferred and/or combination of advanced education, training and experience in research settings commensurate with advanced degree attainment. Excellent oral presentation and written communication skills. Able to create lucid summaries of complex procedural and scientific information in a very high-stakes context. Commitment to teamwork and excellent interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build strong professional relationships and to communicate effectively within a large organization. Experience or coursework in curriculum development, adult education, or related field. Ability to prepare project documentation and manage a project through lifecycle stages from project initiation through project closure with strong attention to detail. Experience working independently at a high level; capable of thinking strategically, establishing goals, setting priorities, and implementing projects with limited direction. Ability to collaborate across academic and administrative groups and building consultative partnerships with the individuals tied to research integrity efforts and compliance. Experience handling highly confidential and sensitive materials.
