VP/Director of Finance

DescriptionWe are looking for a strategic finance leader to guide the organization’s financial health and operational performance in Troy, New York. This role will oversee core accounting functions, strengthen fiscal stewardship, and provide informed leadership on planning and compliance matters. The ideal candidate brings senior-level financial management experience, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with executives, staff, and board-level stakeholders.Responsibilities:• Direct the organization’s accounting and financial activities, including planning cycles, routine reporting, disbursements, payroll review, and cash management.• Manage the preparation of annual budgets and ongoing forecasts to support informed decision-making and long-term financial stability.• Lead the completion of audits, tax-related filings, retirement plan administration, and regulatory reporting while maintaining adherence to applicable standards.• Oversee grant-related financial tracking and reporting to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with funding requirements.• Establish and refine financial policies, operating procedures, and internal control measures that promote accountability and reduce risk.• Guide, coach, and develop finance team members while encouraging strong coordination with leaders across the organization.• Advise executive leadership on financial strategy, organizational priorities, and opportunities to improve processes and resource allocation.• Prepare and present clear financial materials for board and committee discussions related to fiscal oversight, audit matters, and sustainability planning.Compensation & Benefits:• Salary range of $125,000–$150,000, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.• Hybrid work arrangement and flexible scheduling.• Outstanding benefits package including retirement contributions, generous paid time off, employee and dependent educational benefits, and comprehensive health coverage.Requirements• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.• At least 7 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in accounting and finance.• Strong command of budgeting, forecasting, financial statement preparation, and month-end close activities.• Demonstrated knowledge of audit practices, compliance obligations, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.• Experience managing cash flow planning, grant accounting, and broader fiscal oversight responsibilities.• Ability to build productive relationships, lead teams effectively, and communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels.• Background in a nonprofit environment is strongly preferred.For more information or confidential consideration, please reach out to Hayden Bauer.Job typePerm
