Physical Therapist - School Based

Location: Elmira, NY | Schedule: Full-time, 10-month (summers off) or 12-month, on-site | Compensation: Not specified Overview A public school district is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist to support pediatric students in a school-based setting. This role offers the chance to help students build strength, confidence, and independence through individualized therapeutic care, while working within a collaborative, interdisciplinary educational and medical team. What you'll do Review therapy referrals and assess students' physical needs Develop and implement treatment plans including therapeutic exercise, gait training, soft tissue techniques, modalities, and functional training Teach proper use of mobility aids, braces, prosthetics, and adaptive equipment Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed Collaborate with physicians and care team members to ensure coordinated care Complete all required documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries Provide direction to rehab support staff Maintain safety standards, equipment, and infection control procedures Contribute to quality initiatives, meetings, and committees Assist with student transport and provide coverage for senior therapists as needed Participate in ongoing education, trainings, and professional development Deliver age-appropriate care across all populations Report to the Clinical Coordinator of Rehab Services Required qualifications Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a Physical Therapist in New York State BLS certification required within 90 days of hire Ability to lift 30 lbs independently and up to 150 lbs with assistance Ability to perform moderate to significant physical activity including lifting, pushing, and pulling Adherence to universal precautions and safety protocols; Category II exposure risk (occasional exposure to blood/body fluids) Preferred qualifications Hospital or acute care experience preferred Compensation and benefits Competitive compensation Medical, dental, and vision insurance Generous paid time off and holidays Retirement plan with employer contribution Tuition assistance and continuing education support Employee wellness programs Opportunities for career advancement Why this role This position offers meaningful pediatric work in a collaborative, team-driven environment with a consistent schedule, along with strong support for professional growth and mentorship. #J-18808-Ljbffr
