Register CT, PET/CT and/or MRI images to generate and compute standard dose calculations and determine computerized generation of isodose curves for radiation treatment programs. Calculate treatment machine settings, document calculations, and record treatment data in therapy chart.Primary tasks and responsibilities include:Prepare treatment aids and beam modifying devices, including head holders, molds, shields, cradles, compensators, and others as neededAssist in imaging localization procedures, using CT or conventional radiographic techniquesTransfer of CT, PET, and MRI datasets to develop anatomical structuresRegister PET/CT or MRI images with our simulation CT's to create extremely accurate, deformable fusion/registrationAssist in outlining of anatomical structures and the planning target volume in three dimensionsDemonstrate proficiency in the practice of medical dosimetry by creating and calculating highly conformal, computerized isodose plans for all types of radiation oncology patients/tumor types and locations utilizing the full range of external beam treatment techniques including IMRT, VMAT, SBRT and SRSDiscuss with the physician the aim of the treatment, including planned tumor doses and maximum acceptable doses to normal tissueGenerate isodose distributions via computer and performs calculations for the accurate delivery of the prescribed dosePresents these to the physician and/or physicist as well as discusses alternativesCreate meaningful PDF plan documentation (including label proper anatomical direction), secondary calculations and maintain them in Treatment Management System (TMS) to support any and all appropriate planning chargesCalculate required treatment time or monitor setting for delivery of prescribed doseAssist in verification of treatment plans through treatment simulation using CT or conventional radiographic techniquesAssist the therapist staff in the implementation of treatment plansEnter treatment parameters in Treatment Management SystemAssist in routine quality control program to include weekly chart checks, chart rounds, etc.Participate in clinical research for the development and implementation of new treatment techniquesProvide treatment-planning instruction to staff, residents, and students as requiredAssist in record keeping and documentation of treatment parameters for all patients undergoing radiation therapyDocument and perform patient billing information accurately and in a timely mannerMaintain inventory of radioactive substancesCorrectly load and unload radioactive substances into designated devices as prescribed by a physicianAssist in localization procedures of intracavitary or interstitial sources or seedsAssist in treatment implementation of brachytherapy casesIncorporate compliance with department and state policies and procedures into patient care and treatment planningParticipate in continuing education in the area of current treatment planning techniques and advances in medical dosimetryMaintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information at all timesExpected to work at any Company location to help meet the Company's business needsExpected to work overtime when given sufficient notice of required overtimeAdhere to all company and departmental policies and proceduresKeep work area and records in a neat and orderly mannerMaintain all company equipment in a safe and working orderEducation/Certifications & LicensesAssociate degree required (bachelor's or master's degree in medical dosimetry is preferred)Certified by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) or Board eligibleExperience0-1 of dosimetry experience.Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) eligibleCore Competencies, Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesAnalysis & Critical ThinkingStrong interpersonal skills to include effective verbal and written communicationSolid time management with the ability to prioritize multiple tasksAbility to collaborate across various levels of management, departments, and teamsComfortable negotiating problems and exploring solutions with physician populationValuesPatient First – Keeping the patient at the center of everything we doAccountability – Taking responsibility for our actionsCommitment & Care – Upholding FCS vision through every actionTeam – Working together, one team, one missionExpectations for All EmployeesEvery FCS employee is expected to regularly conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner, to comply with all labor laws, workplace policy and workplace practices.
