Job Title: Manager of the Toxics Control Section Agency: State Air Resources Board Classification: AIR RESOURCES SUPERVISOR I Salary: $11,437.00 - $14,315.00 per month Final Filing Date: 7/15/2026 Overview The Risk Reduction Branch of the Transportation and Toxics Division seeks a highly‑motivated manager to lead a section of staff charged with analyzing, quantifying, and reducing risk from air toxics and other pollutants in California. The role requires implementing California’s air toxics program, developing airborne control measures, working closely with impacted communities to reduce health impacts, conducting health risk assessments for stationary and mobile emission sources, and coordinating with other CARB divisions and external agencies on risk‑assessment practices and air‑toxics programs. Responsibilities Lead the Toxics Control Section, managing technical projects and cross‑divisional teams. Implement California’s air toxics program and develop airborne control measures. Collaborate with impacted communities to identify, understand, and mitigate health impacts from air toxics. Conduct and review health risk assessments for stationary and mobile emission sources. Coordinate with CARB divisions, U.S. EPA, CalEPA, OEHHA, air districts, and other government agencies on risk‑assessment practices and air‑toxics programs. Translate technical results into plain‑language policy recommendations and briefings to stakeholders. Minimum Requirements Must meet the qualifications for the AIR RESOURCES SUPERVISOR I classification. Desirable Qualifications Experience in health risk analysis, regulatory development, and non‑diesel toxics. Knowledge of state, federal, and local air‑quality, toxics, and climate protection programs. Demonstrated leadership and mentoring of new and experienced staff. Ability to plan and manage technical projects within changing priorities. Strong communication skills, with the ability to write effectively using concise, non‑technical language.
