Behavioral Health Program Supervisor

FTT Full-Time Professional Dowagiac, MI, US Position Summary: The Program Supervisor will be a versatile, self-motivated, results-oriented professional who is able to assist with managing a strong clinical team under the supervision/oversight of the Behavioral Health Program Manager. The Program Supervisor is involved with operational oversight and supervision to assigned clinical service staff that may include fully licensed therapists, therapist interns, and qualified mental health support staff. This position assists with managing and ensuring service quality and clinical documentation compliance while working closely with the Program Manager and team members to achieve the program's clinical and fiscal division goals and service outcomes. Essential Functions: Provide the overall direction, coordination, evaluation, coaching, and development of staff. This includes interviewing, hiring, orienting, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; providing timely feedback, appraising performance, and providing professional development opportunities; and rewarding and disciplining employees. Proactively address and resolve staff concerns and explore and implement methods and procedures for improving departmental workflow and service to Tribal Citizens. Supervise tribal community clinic behavioral health staff including scheduling, new case assignment, productivity and setting expectations for meeting performance requirements. Provides direct and clinical supervision for assigned clinical personnel and other support staff. Provides clinical leadership and oversight for SUD programs, ensuring implementation of evidence-based practices. Supervise clinical groups and programs with timely communication of any barriers or concerns to Behavioral Health Program Manager. Guide effective implementation of strategic planning projects, and ongoing program quality management activities. Maintains an active caseload. Ensures clinical services are scheduled by the providers in the electronic records system and are delivered to clients weekly and in accordance with department policy. Monitors compliance with treatment services. Reviews “no show” and “cancellation” concerns and how to mitigate barriers to successful treatment. Shares responsibility of closely monitoring the referral list. Provides guidance/supervision to assigned staff achieving below average treatment outcomes and consults with Program Manager regarding disciplinary action that may be warranted due to under performance. Participates in monthly peer review and other quality improvement activities while working closely with Program Manager to ensure clinically sound documentation. Reports all adverse incidents to the Program Manager immediately. Consults with Program Manager on any incident that requires external reporting. Involved with onboarding curriculum/training with new staff. Collaborate dynamically with integrated treatment teams, primary care physicians (PCPs), and psychiatric medical staff to maximize clinical and physical health integration. Ensure case management practices are utilized in accordance with tribal, federal, and state directives. Participate in data collection, data entry, and required reports and other related administrative paperwork in accordance with the program standards and grant compliance. Collaborate with Behavioral Health Manager on grant needs including; Information gathering, proposals, and compliance requirements. Monitors HIPAA compliance and reports breaches in accordance with corporate policy. Adheres to the requirements and regulations as set forth by the Department of Health and Human Services and LARA on clinical licensure. Establishes relationships and communicates with clients, caseworker(s)/probation officers, family members, and staff. Maintains professional licensure as a behavioral health provider in good standing based on licensing requirements. Ability to alleviate stress and anxiety and be supportive of persons and work tactfully, collaboratively, diplomatically and with highest level of confidentiality required. Non-Essential Functions: Appear in court when required or request to act as expert testimony. Participate at cultural events to promote services and/or assist in crises at events or in community. Perform other related functions as assigned. Equipment: Standard office equipment. Systems used: Electronic Health Record – EPIC, MS Office Applications, Internet. Position Requirements: Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related behavioral science discipline required. Degree must be from an accredited institution whose program of study has been recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or the United States Department of Education. Licensed Professional Counselor or Mental Health Professional credentials in the state of Michigan, Indiana, or another state with the ability to meet qualifications for licensing in Michigan if license is in another state required. Certified Alcohol and Drug Addiction Consultant (CADC) or equivalent or three (3) years of substance use counseling experience. Minimum of two (2) years clinical supervisory/mentoring experience and/or completion of Michigan’s 45 Hour Supervisor Training requirements with Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) certification within six (6) months of start date required. Experience with CARF Accreditation and Standards review preferred. Indian Preference: Pokagon Band Preference Code applies. Physical Requirements: Work is generally sedentary in nature and will frequently require sitting, however standing and walking will occasionally be necessary. Frequently required to talk and hear. Work environment: General office environment. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Opportunities for Telehealth Work upon approval.
