Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse will be responsible for directing and coordinating care for patients in accordance with established nursing practice standards, ensuring effective collaboration with other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care across all age groups, from birth to the elderly.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care.
• Serve as a resource during complex situations and emergencies.
• Apply age-specific considerations and cultural sensitivity in patient care.
• Utilize the nursing process in patient care, including administering treatments and medications.
• Interpret diagnostic tests and provide education to patients and families.
• Document actions involved in care delivery accurately.
• Supervise unit secretaries and patient care technicians in collaboration with the Charge Nurse.

Position Qualifications

• Must have completed a nursing education program from an NLN-approved institution.
• Preferred experience: One year in a healthcare setting as a Registered Nurse.
• Must be licensed in good standing as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Alaska.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Ability to manage care across the continuum and apply theoretical knowledge of nursing processes.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills.
• Cognitive and technical knowledge in nursing practices, including basic EKG skills and medical terminology.
• Must be flexible with work schedule and capable of independent actions within prescribed limits.
• Able to follow established guidelines, procedures, and effectively present information.
• Ability to analyze and interpret various forms of instructions.
• Basic mathematical skills for computations and interpretations of graphs.
• Ability to solve practical problems and manage a variety of concrete variables.

Additional Information

If guaranteed hours are set at 40 per week, the first week will not include guaranteed hours due to orientation starting on a Tuesday. All applicants are required to provide proof of completed COVID vaccinations.
