About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 or 26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: 2 years of prior Telemetry experience required License: Must hold a valid nursing license Certifications: BLS required. ACLS, CPI, NIH preferred. Must-Have: - 2 years of experience in a large, urban hospital - Epic charting experience required - Required to float frequently to meet staffing needs Description: This position involves working on a 20-bed medical surgical and telemetry unit. The unit cares for a mix of orthopedic patients, including total knee and hip replacements. Patients may also present with complications related to pulmonary, sepsis, GI, endocrine, cardiac, renal, and psychiatric illnesses. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night, though night ratios may occasionally reach 1:7. RNs will perform weekly assessments, vital checks, and labs with support from care technicians and other clinicians. The unit has an interdisciplinary team, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more. All travelers must adhere to a strict nicotine-free policy. Weekends require 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period. Travelers must work 2 of 3 major holidays each year, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. RNs may float to various units depending on facility needs. Candidates must be willing to manage various patient care tasks, including but not limited to administering drips and managing telemetry. Completion of the application process must include any required time off in advance. This position requires the use of specific scrubs with branding, which will be provided upon confirmation of employment.
