Operations Manager

Role Description The Operations Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Chesapeake, Virginia. This role oversees day-to-day field operations for multiple site development and heavy civil projects, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met. Responsibilities include coordinating crews and equipment, managing subcontractors and material deliveries, and monitoring safety and compliance across job sites. The Operations Manager will collaborate with the general superintendent, project managers and leadership on resource planning, workflow optimization, and problem resolution, while maintaining clear communication with clients and stakeholders. The role also involves tracking operational performance, implementing process improvements, and supporting the training and development of team members. Qualifications Must have 10+ years of experience managing heavy civil and site development projects. Experience managing operations in civil construction and site development strong project coordination and team leadership skills. Proficiency in scheduling, resource planning, and budget tracking using construction or project management software. Knowledge of earthwork, grading, utilities installation, concrete, and paving processes, including relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations. Ability to build effective relationships with field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients through clear, professional communication. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills, with the capacity to manage multiple projects and priorities. Understanding of workplace safety practices and commitment to maintaining a safe job site environment. High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related discipline is preferred. 10+ years of prior supervisory experience in operations or construction management and a valid driver's license are required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
