Support the Automation and Controls team with their projects, as well as providing post machine installation troubleshooting and support. Responsible for intermediate - advanced programming each of the following: HMI, PLC, Robot, Vision.WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING60% of the timeManage medium sized machine installations including:Specify power requirements and locationsRequest network connections and configurationsDisconnect machine at machine development center (MDC) and reconnect in the final locationCoordinate tasks with IT, maintenance, mechanical designers, etc.Train maintenance personnel and automation and controls techniciansParticipate in preventative maintenance events as neededTravel to Greenheck locations to complete machine installs, as efficiently as possible, at times with little notice25% of the timeCreate electrical schematics and electrical cabinet layout using AutoCAD electricalWrite PLC/HMI/Robot Program using over 50 manufacturer software packagesTypical programs range from medium complexity coordinated motion programs using complex calculations, to simple machine controlBuild and wire electrical panels10% of the timeUse manufacturer's software to develop BOMsTravel to Greenheck facilities to install or repair machines and train maintenance and manufacturing personnelPerform design calculations to determine component sizing, overload protection, motor sizing, wire sizing, and circuit sizingDraw sheet metal parts with AutoCADWork with application engineers at external control manufacturers for advanced programming solutionsContinuously be up to date with NEC standards, documents (CUL, CSA, UL, NEC, NFPA 70e, IEC) in an effort to support all Greenheck CNC machines and robotsOffer advanced troubleshooting services on CNC machinesContact control manufacturers when necessaryWrite robot programs for new productsWork with business units to create and modify programs that make robotic welding programs and CNC programs more efficient, more operator friendly, and have better parts traceabilitySupport machines built by outside manufacturersIntegrate purchased machines to MDC machines or to other purchased machinesInvestigate and install monitoring equipment on purchased machinesModify purchased machines to comply with company safety standards5% of the timeDevelop electrical parts list for the project, order parts for projectsWire external machine components to electrical cabinetDesign medium complexity machine guarding strategies that comply with OSHA and ANSI standards, to ensure the safety of our Greenheck teammatesWork with IT Application developers with program integrationsCode machines for SAP integrationPower up, troubleshoot, and commission machine to make production readyIntegrate hydraulic and pneumatic systems into the machine electrical control systemPost machine installation troubleshooting and supportSupport product development engineers with new products and field problemsInterpret NEC violations flagged by field inspectorsSupport new product development so that the product meets NEC standardsAssist with specifying electrical components to be installed on Greenheck productsSupport product development engineers with field problem installation and troubleshooting, following NEC, NFPA, and UL standards for complianceSupport automation and controls technicians with their projectsProvide parts lists with standard components usedResearch safety devices appropriate for their applicationProvide programming assistanceUpgrade existing MDC machinesRetrofit old control systems with new onesAdd new safety devices to meet current safety standardsAdd new functions-features to old machines that are needed to produce new productsWork with
