Assistant Tasting Room Manager

The Assistant Tasting Room Manager for WALT Wines upholds the Hall Wines philosophy of quality, elegance and exceptional customer service by leading a successful team. This role hosts guests, makes sales, trains team members, and handles daily opening and closing procedures, while overseeing administrative and operational duties. The Assistant Tasting Room Manager also supports program development, implements SOPs to ensure high standards of guest experience and wine education, manages retail and merchandising, and is responsible for meeting financial goals and expense management. Responsibilities Assist the manager with day‑to‑day operations of the two WALT properties, including opening, closing, flow of service, and team management. Uphold and implement SOPs for customer service, wine education, hospitality, operations, and systems. Gain comprehensive understanding of Salesforce, V360, Magento, and Ship Compliant to analyze business metrics. Participate in wine and merchandise inventory control, payroll management, scheduling, and reservations/property management. Maintain integrity of the tasting room, collateral, and property. Assist with business development and outreach efforts. Implement and maintain a Corporate & Private Event Program. Oversee corrective and disciplinary actions necessary to maintain team morale. Report to the Tasting Room Manager, VP of Hospitality, President and Owners to maximize results, expense and resource management. Lead and motivate staff toward big‑picture goals. Represent the WALT brand across Napa and Sonoma Valleys and beyond through networking and relationship building. Perform other duties as required by the winery. Requirements 2–3 years of leadership experience in a tasting room or restaurant setting. Knowledge of wine, winemaking and wine service; a passion for Pinot Noir and major Pinot Noir regions of the West Coast is preferred. Experience in genuine hospitality and customer service. Experience with expense management, retail merchandising and inventory systems. Proven record of meeting and exceeding financial goals. Proficient spoken and written English. Comfortable with technology and systems. Strong communication skills. Ability to handle high‑volume tasting room situations calmly. Commitment to uphold standards, policies and procedures of Hall Wines. Organizational and multi‑tasking skills with attention to detail. Ability to motivate and lead staff to maintain a cohesive team. College degree preferred; trade certifications such as WSET or WISE a plus. Flexible to work in Sonoma or Napa and travel between tasting rooms during operating hours. Physical Requirements Requires continuous standing, carrying less than 50 lbs., occasional climbing, stooping, twisting, fine manipulation, and intermittent bending. Hours & Days Flexibility is required. Work includes evenings and weekends based on business demands. Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $73,000–$80,000 with potential bonus. Compensation will be determined by education, experience, skills, internal equity, and market data.
