Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) Opportunity – Day Shift Full‑Time, 40 hours a week. Day shift schedule with opportunity for overtime and shift coverage. Responsibilities The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is a specialized registered nurse whose practice extends perioperative nursing. The RNFA provides pre‑operative patient care management, intra‑operative surgical first assisting, and post‑operative patient care management. The RNFA works interdependently with the surgeon, delivering a safe operation and optimal patient outcomes. The RNFA also provides patient care for all ages and leads the perioperative team during the perioperative phase as needed, without functioning as a scrub nurse. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing and completion of an accredited RN First Assistant program that includes didactic and supervised clinical practice, per AORN’s core curriculum for the RNFA. 3–5 years of experience in perioperative nursing is required. Registered nurse currently licensed to practice in the State of Florida, possessing OR certification (CNOR) from the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) or C‑RNFA certification, or eligible to complete supervised hours necessary to sit for the RNFA certification exam by AORN within 90 days of employment. Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.
