People & Culture ManagerThe People & Culture Manager at Harvest Home is responsible for cultivating a team environment where staff feel supported, heard, and cared for throughout their entire experience from hiring and onboarding through ongoing growth and development.This role serves as a steady, welcoming, and trusted point-of-contact for employees, helping to foster a culture that is warm, responsive, and grounded in care. It also plays a key role in shaping how volunteers experience Harvest Home, ensuring that every interaction reflects professionalism, hospitality, and authentic gratitude.Because we believe that a healthy, well-supported team is essential to the impact of our mission, this role helps ensure that our team feels encouraged and cared for so they can sustainably care for others.In addition, this role oversees Volunteer Operations, ensuring volunteers feel welcomed, prepared, and meaningfully connected to the work of the organization.This position partners closely with the Director of Strategic Operations to implement people strategies and strengthen the overall team experience.This is a Full-Time role, Monday through Friday across both homes in person, with occasional Saturdays for special events and projects.Primary Focus:People & Culture: ~65%Volunteers: ~35%How you will invest your time:Hiring & OnboardingManage and execute the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, candidate coordination, and communicationSupport interview processes and partner with hiring managers to ensure a thoughtful and welcoming candidate experienceFacilitate onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure smooth, aligned, and supportive transitionsMaintain onboarding materials, internal tools, and employee recordsRepresent Harvest Home at job fairs and recruitment eventsTeam Experience & CultureDesign and lead meaningful moments of connection, celebration, and care that foster a sense of belongingOversee staff celebrations, recognition efforts, and team gatheringsLead Harvest Home Cares initiatives to support staff through life events and challengesCoordinate trainings, team meetings, and development opportunitiesSteward culture initiatives in a way that reflects warmth, hospitality, and intentional careAdminister employee feedback tools (e.g., eNPS, wellbeing surveys) and track and synthesize insightsPartner with leadership to implement improvements based on employee feedback, strengthening team experience and engagementAssist with cross-functional coordination as needed to support team and program effectivenessHR Compliance & SystemsMaintain compliance with state and federal labor laws through tracking, documentation, and updatesManage employee records, certifications, and required trainingsMaintain and update the Employee Handbook, HR policies, and SOPsSupport employee relations processes, including documentation and coordination for grievances and incidentsPartner with leadership to ensure consistent and compliant HR practicesPerformance & Team Member SupportCoordinate and manage performance review cycles (30/60/90-day and annual reviews)Track progress and ensure consistency across teamsSupport supervisors in navigating performance conversations, documentation, and development plansServe as a resource for both employees and managers for ongoing support and guidanceVolunteer ManagementServe as the primary point-of-contact for all volunteers and prospective volunteersManage volunteer recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and ongoing communicationBuild and maintain strong relationships with volunteers and community partnersCoordinate volunteer engagement efforts, events, and appreciation initiativesTrack participation and identify opportunities to strengthen the volunteer experienceDevelop and distribute regular volunteer communications (e.g., newsletters)Partner with program and fundraising teams to align volunteer support with organizational needsQualificationsAbility to lead and collaborate with teams to accomplish goalsExceptional people skills and emotional and spiritual maturityStrong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to work independently while remaining receptive to feedback and directionStrong organizational, logistical, and time management skillsThoughtful problem-solving and decision-making abilitiesAbility to engage professionally with staff, volunteers, donors, and the broader communityProficiency in Microsoft Office and general technology toolsPreferred Experience25 years of experience in nonprofit or business operations2+ years in a People Operations, HR, or related roleExperience managing hiring and onboarding processesExperience supporting employee engagement, culture initiatives, or volunteer programsOther RequirementsValid California Driver's License and clean driving recordAbility to pass a comprehensive background check (post-offer)Ability to lift 25+ lb boxes and move them as neededSHRM-C Certification (or willingness to obtain; Harvest Home will support this process)BenefitsSick & Vacation Time100% organization paid Medical, Dental & Vision BenefitsLife Insurance & AD&DTraining & Development Opportunities401K with matchFSA Benefits
