Banking Operations Specialist

: Description:

Job Summary: To contribute toward the achievement of the Bank's objectives by performing a variety of accounting and record keeping functions. Specific responsibilities are identified under essential functions. Ensures that confidentiality is maintained at all times.

Essential Functions:

• Performs daily balancing of teller work, branch capture (scanning checks as needed), overdraft processing and ACH rejects.
• Responsible for daily balancing of in clearings. Researches and posts or returns rejects.
• Has responsibility for daily balancing of General Ledger Suspense Accounts. Researches and resolves exceptions.
• Daily, verification of mobile and merchant capture checks, ensuring they are valid deposits.
• Maintains records of the Bank's Real Estate Owned (REO) and Real Estate in Judgment (REJ) and records expenses incurred relative to the REO and REJ properties.
• Prepares private mortgage insurance (PMI) payments to insurance companies.
• Scans invoices into Banktel, the accounts payable system.
• Processes debit card maintenance.
• Learns and develops expertise in operating the Business Analytics system which enables the Bank to generate custom reports from the online data processing system; generates and distributes reports as requested.
• Assist with Cash count for tellers and vaults for all locations.
• Cross trains in performing functions of other department staff to serve as backup, when needed.
• Provides assistance to others as the need arises and as directed by the Department Manager.
• Is responsible for successful completion of all required compliance training. Performs accounting functions in accord with relevant training.
• Conducts oneself in accord with the Bank's Core Values.

Requirements:

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
• 1 to 3 years banking or accounting experience, preferred
• Proficient with Excel
• Excellent personal computer skills
• Good interpersonal skills; professional in appearance and communication
• Previous banking experience, preferred

Physical Requirements:

• The ability to sit for lengthy periods of time
• Frequent use of computer, calculator and other office equipment
• Occasional local travel including driving of vehicle
• Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs waist height
