Physician Assistant Endocrinology

Physician AssistantUnder the supervision and direction of the collaborating physician, the Physician Assistant provides high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective patient care in accordance with the State of Indiana Rules and Regulations. The Physician Assistant will conduct thorough patient assessments and physical examinations, develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on diagnostic evaluations, evaluate and diagnose endocrine conditions, perform necessary medical procedures, prescribe necessary medications and offer patient education on lifestyle modifications when appropriate. Will provide care for patients across various age groups. Protocols and clinical judgment will be used to carry out all duties including maintaining infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. The Physician Assistant will provide care in the outpatient clinic, manage hospital-based endocrine patients through inpatient and emergency department consultations. The Physician Assistant will accurately document patient interactions in the electronic health record, participate in utilization review processes to ensure patient care and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes. The Physician Assistant is expected to project a positive image and service excellence of the organization to the patient.Minimum Job RequirementsUnrestricted Physician Assistant license.Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies.Current DEA registration and authorization to administer medication.Meets all requirements to bill Medicare as stated in 42 CFR 410.75(b) of the Code of Federal Regulations.Two (2) years of experience in Endocrinology practice and procedures.BLS Certification or must obtain at next available class upon hire.Skills / Knowledge / AbilitiesMathematical calculations and medication preparation and administration.A professional level of knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and other managed care regulations.Excellent communication skills to effectively and tactfully communicate with patients and their families and guests, co-workers, managers, providers, and other hospital personnel on a one-to-one basis using appropriate grammar, vocabulary and word usage.Interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress.Developed computer and documentation skills with the ability to learn and proficiently perform patient care applications, telehealth, echarting, email and other standard applications related to the department operations and job functions.Highly developed computer skills to include the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to operations and job function.Familiarity with clinic operations and patient flow management.Strong customer service skills, with special emphasis on patient centered care.Excellent bedside manners and ability to show sensitivity and empathy.Ability to promote compassion and a therapeutic environment.Ability to provide clinical reasoning; decision making and critical thinking.Ability to use independent judgement and discretion.Ability to analytically evaluate problem situations in-depth and come to independent, appropriate conclusions.Ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously, maintain attention to detail, and appropriately prioritize based on patient needs.Basic working understanding of concepts of infection control principles to prevent the spread of infection to patients, self and others.Ability to react appropriately in any environment or situation.General awareness and understanding of legal implication of patient care activities and self-performance while performing job duties.Ability to be discreet and protect the integrity of any confidential matter or information encountered during the performant of job duties.Working ConditionsTypical office environment within physician office practice with risk of exposure to blood, body fluid or other potentially infectious materials.May be at risk for electrical hazards or hazardous materials.Works with protected health information.Risk for occupational exposure to blood, body fluid and other potentially infectious, electrical and radiation hazards.May work extended hours, or weekends based on the needs of the department.Physical and Mental Activities, Tools and EquipmentUse of computers and other standard office equipment.Extreme concentration and attention to detail.Lift standard supplies and equipment found in physician practice.Operates equipment typically found in patient rooms.May assist patients with mobility both in and out of bed.Standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling to provide patient care and to utilize patient care devices necessary to perform duties in a safe manner.Equal Opportunity Employer Marion Health is a smoke-free environment.
