Our Ultrasound Technologists use exceptional communication skills to connect with patients, explain procedures and put patients at ease. With a caring attitude and keen attention to detail, they ensure patient comfort, safety and satisfaction every step of the way. They show their technical competence by effectively interpreting physician orders/instructions and selecting appropriate software options and imaging parameters to produce the highest-quality Ultrasound images/studies possible enabling physicians to diagnose with pinpoint accuracy and treat with confidence. This is a full-time Ultrasound Supervisor position and has a 8am-5pm schedule (variable when needed), which includes a weekend rotation. Pay range: $41/hour - $50/hour What You Will Do: Manages the Ultrasound department in accordance with policies and procedures set by California Medical Business Services (CMBS) in conjunction with appropriated state and federal regulations. Establishes and implements departmental policies and procedures with the center manager and/or radiologist. Make recommendations for improvements. Follows company policies and guidelines. Maintains and implements quality and safety protocols regarding patient care, exam procedures and equipment throughout the department. Makes recommendations for improvement. Ensures that all staff follow the quality and safety guidelines for the department. Responsible for creating and updating protocols per radiologist instructions. Trains Ultrasound Technologists on procedures/changes as directed by radiologist. Trains and supervises students rotating from accredited schools (usually one student per year). Assists and guides Ultrasound department employees with emergencies during the shift. Participates in selecting and hiring of Ultrasound technologists. Provides new-hire orientation and initial training for new technologists as well as ongoing in-service training for all department staff as deemed appropriate by regular analyses. Assigns work and supervises daily operations of Ultrasound areas. Acts as a resource for specialized or complicated procedures. Reviews schedules for complicated cases and reviews them with the radiologist. Creates a monthly department schedule, which may involve rotation of staff to multiple facilities. Responsible for staffing the Ultrasound department adequately and encourages technologists efficiency and productivity. Ensure accuracy of employee timesheets in the department. Ensures that Ultrasound technologists complete required training courses. Responsible for maintaining technologists licensing and Continuing Medical Education (CME) documentation and report provided copies to Imaging Center Manager. Completes performance evaluations as well as written and verbal counseling of Ultrasound technologists. When necessary, recommends disciplinary action with final approval at level of the Clinical Operations Director and Human Resources Director. Ensures that equipment is maintained and operating properly. Orders supplies for the department. Documents malfunctions; schedules preventative maintenance, service, and annual physicist testing for the equipment as appropriate. Responsible for American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation for department (if applicable). Conducts safety trainings for department meetings (as requested). Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations as required. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. Schedules and coordinates tests, records test results, and prepares and maintains operational logs. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Must exercise good and sound judgment and plan and accomplish goals. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Works closely with Radiologist and referring physicians. KeepsImaging Center Manager,Clinical Operations Director and Vice President of Clinical Operations abreast of department potential issues or escalated issues. Keeps documentation regarding policies, procedures, quality assurance and other data available for review. Performs other duties as assigned by Clinical Operations Director or Vice President of Clinical Operations. Ensure that company policies and procedures are followed. Technologist Provides technical support for interventional studies and trains staff in ultrasound procedures and techniques. Assists in patient scheduling and facilitates efficient workflow within ultrasound area. Reviews and evaluates requisitions for ultrasound imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs. Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy. Responsible for the operation of ultrasound equipment for the performance of all dynamic ultrasound procedures at a technical level not requiring direct supervision. Competent with all diagnostic studies based on the certified specialty or specialties. Provide excellent patient care to various ranges of age and condition levels. Performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Schedules and coordinates tests, records test results, and prepares and maintains operational logs. Calibrates and maintains equipment and orders supplies when needed. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Must exercise good and sound judgment and plan and accomplish goals. Acts as a resource for specialized or complicated procedures. Serves as liaison among medical staff including referring physicians. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations as required. Maintains patient confidentially. What You Will Bring: Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience or equivalent. Must have American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification. Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification or at least 2 years current work experience in Ultrasound. Fully licensed to perform all general Ultrasound exams with up to date credentialing. Expertise in at least one modality and willing to cross train for other areas. Advanced computer skills a plus such as knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access. Candidate must have a strong work-ethic, and must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Dependability and provision of excellence in customer service to our physicians and patient care is a must. Familiarity with Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) systems – DR Systems preferred. Basic understanding of ICD-10 and CPT codes. Basic understanding of insurance, both Commercial and Managed Care. Familiarity with ACR guidelines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. High level of organizational skills, integrity, and accuracy. Must be a self-starter with an ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Knowledge of Ultrasound procedures and protocols. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform Ultrasound testing including body mechanics and patient movement. Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology. Skill in positioning patients properly. Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor. Skill in following infection control and radiological safety procedures. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Ability to multi-task in a busy environment. Ability to interact with people in a friendly, courteous, timely, and thorough manner regardless of the situation. Ability to notice detail in drawings and differences in shapes and shadings. Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices. What Your Work Environment Will Be Like: Environment: Work is performed primarily in the Ultrasound area with extensive contact with individuals and frequent interruptions. Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an imaging center setting; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight. This position requires the incumbent to experience periods of prolonged standing, walking, carrying (transporting, moving, or positioning), climbing (ascending, descending) steps, reaching and lifting (10 pounds for less than 10% of work-shift time; 25 pounds for less than 5% of work-shift time). Regularly required to stand for long periods of time; will sit 40-50% of their work-shift time; will stand for 40-50% of their work-shift time; will walk for approximately 80-85% of the work-shift time; must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel approximately 90-100% of work-shift time; must be able to reach with hands and arms approximately 85-95% of work-shift time; must be able to talk or hear and verbally communicate to exchange information approximately 90-100% of work-shift time. Must be able to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, type, operate a calculator, telephone, copier and such other office equipment as necessary. Will travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation, as needed. Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens. Must have ability to ability to see color and to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols. Must be able to detect, perceive, or identify. The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. The lights in the office include fluorescent lighting. Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
