Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant Direct Hire $74k-$93k; Offering $1000 sign on Bonus Must have Commercial or Hotel experience The Staff Accountant will assist the Controller and Accounting Manager in all areas of financial reporting and will be responsible for managing the full accounting cycle, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), bank reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and month-end close activities. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting systems, practices, and procedures to produce accurate and timely financial statements and management reports. The Staff Accountant will be required to meet stringent deadlines in a variety of accounting and financial activities, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end tax preparation, budgeting/forecasting support, and daily accounting operations. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and superior interpersonal abilities. Duties and Responsibilities Manage the full accounting cycle, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), cash receipts, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance. Gain and develop a thorough understanding of the company's financial reporting and general ledger structure. Ensure accurate and timely daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures. Lead activities related to the timely preparation and reporting of monthly financial statements. Perform monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate variances. Assist the Controller and Accounting Manager with daily accounting operations and financial reporting. Complete all monthly and quarterly financial reporting and bank compliance activities accurately and on schedule. Support budgeting and forecasting activities. Analyze departmental processes to improve efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and optimize resource utilization while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Respond promptly to inquiries from Owners, the Controller, and Department Managers regarding profit and loss statements, financial reports, and other accounting information. Recommend and implement accounting policies and procedures that improve workflow and operational effectiveness. Provide training and guidance to new and existing accounting staff. Assist the Controller and Accounting Manager with special projects and other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Prior Experience Minimum of three (3) years of progressive accounting experience, including experience managing the full accounting cycle (AP, AR, bank reconciliations, month-end close, and general ledger accounting). Experience in hospitality or hotel accounting is preferred. Technical Skills Strong PC proficiency and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Experience with M3, MICROS, OPERA CLOUD, or other enterprise accounting systems is preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is strongly preferred. Interpersonal Skills and Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical, organizational, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritize, multitask, work under pressure, and meet multiple deadlines. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to confidentiality.
