PYP/MYP Design & Technology Teacher

Full Time, 7:30 am - 4 pm

Compensation commensurate upon experience: $75,000-$120,000/annum

Authorization to work in the United States is required.

Position Overview

Dwight School, an innovative preschool-grade 12 coeducational school on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, is seeking a self-directed, experienced, and energetic Design and Engineering Teacher to begin immediately.

Responsibilities

• Teach the IB Primary Years Program and Middle Years Program Design and Technology course.
• Teach multiple sections of IB PYP/ MYP design technology classes.
• Help maintain the Spark Lab, Dwight’s makerspace.
• Model innovative technology use for other Dwight faculty members.
• Mentor students through Dwight School’s Spark Tank program.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
• Teaching experience in one or more of the following disciplines: industrial design; engineering; digital fabrication; robotics; with a strong background in STEM.
• Experience working in a school with a 1:1 laptop program.
• Experience with the IB Primary Years Program (PYP) and Middle Years (MYP) Programs Design/Technology (highly preferred).
• Experience in digital fabrication techniques, machines, and software (Adobe Creative Suite, Scratch, Tinkercad) and hardware (Prusa, Glowforge, Trotec).
• Ability and interest in working with interdisciplinary projects with Math and Science departments.
• Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with a diverse community of students and educators.
• Ability to contribute positively to the community with passion, patience and humor.
