Financial Controller

We are seeking an ambitious, high-caliber Financial Controller to take full ownership of our day-to-day finance operations and drive the overall financial health of our organization. You will own the operational engine, including budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and the month-end close grind. This deliberate operational focus is where you will build systems, guide our accounting team, master our unit economics, and earn the trust required to eventually run the entire company finance function. You will have the opportunity to translate financial results into actionable insight, and help shape decisions across the organization. This role requires strong strategic and analytical capability, with proven leadership experience. If you are ready to own the numbers today and have a desire to execute from an executive seat tomorrow, this role is built for you Duties/Responsibilities: Lead all day-to-day accounting operations (GL, AP, AR, reconciliations) Ensure accurate, timely month-end close and financial reporting Manage cash flow, banking activity, and account reconciliations Prepare and review monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) Own budgeting and forecasting processes Maintain compliance with financial regulations and internal controls Identify issues, implement solutions, and streamline accounting processes Effectively lead and manage accounting staff Analyze business and partner with leadership to support operational and financial decisions Participate in vendor and client financial interactions Perform other duties as assigned Education and Experience Requirements: Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Controller or Finance leader Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting operations Strong leadership experience, managing teams and accountability Preferred Experience: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - active license preferred Experience in the construction industry Familiarity with Sage or similar accounting systems Experience in accounting process optimization and streamlining Experience working directly with executive leadership Competency Requirements: Advanced Excel skills Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and laws Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Strong communication and organizational skills Vision and Career Development This operational Financial Controller role is designed with a clear path to grow into a more strategic seat such as CFO, as you build trust, strengthen systems, and deepen your understanding of the business. Physical Requirements: This position requires prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, typing, writing, and analyzing data. Moving throughout the building and sites to perform daily tasks. Driving and traveling short and long distances. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
