And we’re just getting started!OverviewThe Lead Platform Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure plays a critical role in advancing the design, implementation, and evolution of secure, scalable, and automated infrastructure across Planet Fitness’s cloud environments. As a senior member of the team, this individual will drive platform initiatives, contribute to strategic planning, and ensure alignment with business goals.Responsibilities include supporting weekly team coordination, leveraging the existing roadmap to guide priorities, and developing KPIs to measure platform performance and impact. This role requires deep technical expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and a proactive mindset to deliver reliable and efficient platform solutions.This role follows a hybrid schedule and requires regular, in-person work at our Hampton, NH or Boston, MA office. Our hybrid model is M/T/W in office and TH/F are optional work-from-home. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of one of these locations. Fully remote work is not available for this role.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate closely with the Director, IT Infrastructure & Cloud to execute the IT vision for Planet Fitness.Drive platform engineering projects from planning through execution and delivery.Support weekly team meetings to review work progress, remove blockers, and align priorities.Build and maintain cloud infrastructure in AWS, with contributions to Azure and other platforms.Own and evolve the internal developer platform service catalog.Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code.Guide Kubernetes (EKS) operations including deployment strategies and scaling.Improve CI/CD pipelines and developer enablement tooling.Define and track KPIs for platform performance, reliability, and developer productivity.Use existing platform roadmap and build a forward-looking roadmap aligned with business goals.Collaborate with app/dev, data, and InfoSec teams to align platform capabilities with business needs.Ensure compliance with security guidelines and vulnerability remediation SLAs.Document systems, workflows, and architecture for transparency and knowledge sharing.Contribute to Agile practices including sprint planning, retrospectives, and iterative delivery.Monitor and troubleshoot systems using tools such as Datadog and PagerDuty.Drive team projects including support and access requests, threat modeling sessions, and on-call rotation.Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and operational excellence.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in computer information systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experienceMinimum of 7 years experience in a Cloud, DevOps, or Platform Engineering roleProven experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineersStrong hands-on experience with AWS (preferred), Azure, and other cloud platformsProficiency in Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practicesDeep experience with Kubernetes (EKS preferred) and CI/CD toolingFamiliarity with Git/GitHub, Jira, and ConfluenceHands-on experience with static analysis toolsStrong communication and presentation skills across all levels of the organizationAbility to define and measure KPIs and translate platform metrics into actionable insightsExperience with Agile methodologies and Scrum practices is highly valuedEntrepreneurial mindset with initiative, creativity, and strategic thinkingComfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentStrong written documentation and communication skills, especially when working across teamsExtremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectivesExceptional presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including executivesAble to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externallyCreative, progressive, thought leadership with the ability to influence at all levels of the organizationPossess a results-driven entrepreneurial mindset, demonstrating initiative and creativityExhibits comfort, ease, and flexibility working in an extremely fast-paced ever-changing, deadline-driven environmentCooperative team player with an upbeat, positive, “can-do” attitude!PerksPlanet Fitness cares about you and your well-being.
