Ability to be licensed as a police officer through the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). Ability to be licensed as a Medical First Responder (MFR). Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Physical ability necessary to perform the duties of police officer. Demonstrated ability to read and understand routine orders, write clear and comprehensive reports, and to articulate them. Working knowledge of state laws, city ordinances, familiarity with first aid, as well as fire prevention and control techniques. Ability to pass stringent physical exam, psychological evaluation, fingerprint check and extensive background investigation. Ability to take charge of a situation and take proper law enforcement action when necessary. Ability to train, qualify and carry various firearms, TASER, pepper spray and handcuffs. No dependency on alcohol or any other drug not prescribed by an attending physician. No felony convictions. Possession of valid operator’s license.

Noise Level: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work Hours Work Hours: Day, Afternoon, Midnight, weekend, holiday shifts up to 29 hours per week, maximum. Salary Pay Range: $19.33-$30.22 per hour. Job Duties Provides CPR, first aid, or transportation in response to medical emergencies. Protects College property from fire, theft, destruction, and illegal entry. Patrols College buildings and grounds by vehicle, bicycle, or on foot. Enforces traffic and parking regulations, state laws and municipal ordinances that apply to the College, and seeks compliance with College policy. Investigates crimes, accidents, and dangerous campus conditions. Makes arrests for violations of criminal law and when appropriate, uses reasonable force in doing so. Prepares concise written and computer generated reports. Opens and locks doors, sets and disarms alarm systems, operates radio and phone systems, transfer funds, etc. Logs daily activities. Interacts with students and staff regularly to maintain good relationships and provide physical security presence. Performs other related duties as assigned.
