Position Summary The Department of Surgery seeks a full‑time academic trauma, surgical critical care, and acute care surgeon for its Division of General and Acute Care Surgery. The faculty member will perform clinical and research duties along with educational responsibilities for medical students, residents, and fellows. The role may be half‑time (0.5‑1.0 FTE) or a fixed‑term/tenure track appointment. Responsibilities Provide high‑quality clinical care in surgical ICU, intermediate care, and trauma services. Participate regularly in education of medical students, residents, and fellows. Engage in research activities, including clinical outcomes, health services, and translational projects. Collaborate with hospitalists, primary care physicians, surgeons, and emergency medicine providers. Attend rural referring hospitals and EMS outreach as needed. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements MD or equivalent degree. Board Certified/Eligible in General Surgery. Board Certified/Eligible in Surgical Critical Care. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Experience as a trauma surgeon; interest in critical and acute care surgery. Experience with ECMO or willingness to become proficient. Research experience in clinical outcomes, health services, basic or translational science. Expertise in rural trauma care and video‑based review education.
