Full Time Med/Surg Registered Nurse

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The RN on 3 North develops specialized skills in the area of patients admitted for medical conditions, providing care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations. The 3 North Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a Healing Environment.

Responsibilities:

• Applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care.
• Assesses patient/family needs through active listening and social perceptiveness; develops individualized care plans.
• Promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of patients.
• Educates patients and families on care and self-management post-hospitalization.
• Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and engages in self-evaluation to enhance professional development.
• Cultivates trusting relationships to understand and address patient/family concerns.
• Administers medications and performs nursing interventions safely.
• Maintains compliance with infection prevention strategies.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• New York State RN Licensure Required.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA or RQI only), NIHSS.
• Minimum of two years of medical/surgical nursing experience required.

Schedule:

This position requires a 3x12s day/night shift variable schedule, including holidays and two on-call shifts within a four-week period.
