Make a Difference for Neurodivergent Children & Their Families
Jovie is hiring compassionate, dependable caregivers to provide in-home respite care for children with disabilities and neurodivergent children throughout San Diego. This rewarding part-time position is perfect for childcare professionals, behavior technicians, special education aides, nursing students, and experienced caregivers who are looking for meaningful after-school work with flexible scheduling.

Pay: $18–$20/hour + $2 Sibling Care Bonuses

What You'll Do

• Provide safe, engaging, and compassionate in-home care
• Build meaningful relationships with children and their families
• Engage children through games, crafts, outdoor play, reading, sensory activities, and other age-appropriate experiences
• Support daily routines while encouraging independence and confidence
• Follow each family's care plan and communicate professionally with parents
• Create a positive, inclusive environment where every child can thrive

Schedule

• Part-time opportunities available
• Most shifts begin after 12:00 PM
• Typical shifts are 4–6 hours (4-hour minimum)
• Weekday afternoons are our greatest need
• Weekend opportunities may also be available
• Work with vetted local families

You'll be a great fit for this job if you:

• Have at least 1 year of childcare or caregiving experience
• Enjoy working with children of all abilities
• Have experience with special needs, autism, developmental disabilities, ABA, respite care, or behavioral support (preferred but not always required)
• Are patient, dependable, and compassionate
• Communicate professionally with families
• Have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and auto insurance
• Can provide at least 2 childcare-related references
• Are at least 18 years old

Good to know: Experience may come from nannying, babysitting, respite care, ABA therapy, behavioral intervention, daycare, preschool, special education classrooms, camps, church nursery, or other childcare settings.

Do I need previous respite experience?
No. We welcome experience from nannying, babysitting, ABA therapy, daycare, preschool, special education, behavioral support, camps, church nursery, and other childcare settings.

What ages will I care for?
Assignments vary by family but primarily involve school-age children and teens with developmental disabilities, autism, ADHD, or other support needs.

Will I work with one family or multiple families?
Depending on your availability, you may work consistently with one family or be matched with multiple families throughout your area.

What schedule is available?
Most families are looking for caregivers who can work weekday afternoons after school, with shifts typically lasting 4–6 hours. Weekend opportunities may also be available.

Is training provided?
Yes! We provide orientation, ongoing support, employer-sponsored CPR & First Aid certification, and additional guidance to help you feel confident and successful.
