Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Benefit Eligible Yes Job Description Summary Miami University seeks an experienced Business Analyst who enjoys working at the intersection of people, process, and technology. The hiring team may fill this opening with a level 1 or level 2 Business Analyst, determined by education, experience, and demonstrated skills. The level 1 position is well‑situated for a curious, collaborative, and motivated individual who wants to learn how business needs translate into effective technology solutions. You will work closely with clients and technical teams to understand problems, clarify goals, and help shape practical, well‑considered outcomes. The level 2 position is intended for individuals who already have hands‑on experience performing business‑analysis type work and are ready to operate with greater independence. You will partner directly with clients and delivery teams to clarify needs, evaluate options, and guide initiatives from early concept through implementation. Both levels support enterprise‑wide services and systems that enable student success and university operations. Duties Lead and facilitate engagement with stakeholders to clarify objectives, success measures, and constraints. Independently elicit, analyze, and manage requirements across moderately complex initiatives. Translate ambiguous or competing needs into clear recommendations and documented outcomes. Act as a primary point of connection between business partners and technical delivery teams. Contribute to project planning, prioritization, and delivery decisions with sound analytical judgment. Use process and performance data to inform recommendations. Guide testing strategies and validate that delivered solutions meet intended business outcomes. Proactively identify process improvement opportunities and recommend practical, incremental improvements. Minimum Qualifications For the Level I position: Bachelor’s degree earned by date of hire. Demonstrated experience performing business analysis–related activities such as requirements elicitation, process analysis, stakeholder coordination, or solution validation. 1+ year of professional technical experience. For the Level II position: Bachelor’s degree earned by date of hire. Substantial experience performing business analysis–related activities, including direct engagement with stakeholders, independent requirements analysis, and contribution to solution delivery. 4+ years of professional technical experience. Experience may come from roles such as business analyst, developer, project lead, product owner, or similar positions. A relevant master’s degree may be considered as one of several ways to demonstrate equivalent preparation. Preferred Qualifications For the Level I position: Clear and effective verbal and written communication with both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to build trust, facilitate discussion, and work collaboratively across roles and perspectives. Analytical thinking and curiosity, with comfort exploring unfamiliar business domains. Familiarity with concepts such as process mapping, stakeholder analysis, and requirements documentation. Willingness to learn new tools, methods, and technologies as needed. Experience with common BA and project tools (e.g., ticketing systems, workflow tools, Agile backlogs). For the Level II position: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including facilitation of complex discussions. Ability to navigate competing priorities and guide stakeholders toward shared understanding. Experience applying business analysis techniques such as process modeling, gap analysis, and impact assessment. Familiarity with Agile or iterative delivery environments. Working knowledge of change management concepts and organizational impact. Experience with common BA and project tools (e.g., ticketing systems, workflow tools, Agile backlogs). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities For the Level I position: Fundamental knowledge of business analysis practices including requirements elicitation, documentation, and validation. Ability to gather information from stakeholders through interviews, observation, and structured discussion. Ability to document requirements, workflows, or user needs clearly and accurately. Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to analyze problems, ask clarifying questions, and break down ambiguous issues into manageable components. Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to support solution development. Ability to learn new systems, tools, and business domains quickly. For the Level II position: Strong knowledge of business analysis practices including requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and validation. Ability to independently facilitate stakeholder discussions to clarify goals, needs, and constraints. Ability to analyze business processes and identify opportunities for improvement or efficiency. Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to diverse stakeholders. Ability to translate ambiguous or competing needs into clear requirements and recommendations. Ability to manage requirements across a project lifecycle including prioritization and change tracking. Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills applied to operational and technology initiatives. Position level (Business Analyst I or II) will be determined by education, experience, and demonstrated skills. Eligibility This position is open only to individuals authorized to work in the United States on an indefinite basis. This includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), asylees, and refugees. Individuals holding temporary work authorization (e.g., F‑1, J‑1/J‑2, H‑1B/H‑4, L‑1/L‑2, OPT) are not eligible. Eligible candidates must currently reside in, or be willing to relocate to, Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana within 90 days of position acceptance.
