Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Benefit Eligible Yes Screening Date 2026-03-16 Job Description Summary Miami University seeks an experienced Business Analyst who enjoysworking at the intersection of people, process, andtechnology. The hiring team may fill this opening with a level 1 or level 2Business Analyst, determined by education, experience, anddemonstrated skills. The level 1 position is well-suited for someone who is curious,collaborative, and motivated to learn how business needs translateinto effective technology solutions. You will work closely withclients and technical teams to understand problems, clarify goals,and help shape practical, well-considered outcomes. The level 2 position is intended for individuals who already havehands-on experience performing business analysis–type work and areready to operate with greater independence. You will partnerdirectly with clients and delivery teams to clarify needs, evaluateoptions, and guide initiatives from early concept throughimplementation. Both levels support enterprise-wide services and systems thatenable student success and university operations. Job Description
DUTIES:
In support of University strategic and operational initiatives,this role will: Lead and facilitate engagement with stakeholders to clarifyobjectives, success measures, and constraints. Independently elicit, analyze, and manage requirements acrossmoderately complex initiatives. Translate ambiguous or competing needs into clearrecommendations and documented outcomes. Act as a primary point of connection between business partnersand technical delivery teams. Contribute to project planning, prioritization, and deliverydecisions with sound analytical judgment. Use process and performance data to informrecommendations. Guide testing strategies and validate that delivered solutionsmeet intended business outcomes. Proactively identify process improvement opportunities andrecommend practical, incremental improvements.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
For the Level I position: Bachelor's degree earned by date of hire, AND Demonstrated experience performing business analysis–relatedactivities such as requirements elicitation, process analysis,stakeholder coordination, or solution validation, AND 1+ year of professional technical experience. For the Level II position: Bachelor's degree earned by date of hire, AND Substantial experience performing business analysis–relatedactivities, including direct engagement with stakeholders,independent requirements analysis, and contribution to solutiondelivery, AND 4+ years of professional technical experience. Experience may come from roles such as business analyst, developer,project lead, product owner, or similar positions. A relevant master's degree may be considered as one of several waysto demonstrate equivalent preparation.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
For the Level I position: Clear and effective verbal and written communication with bothtechnical and non-technical audiences. Ability to build trust, facilitate discussion, and workcollaboratively across roles and perspectives. Analytical thinking and curiosity, with comfort exploringunfamiliar business domains. Familiarity with concepts such as process mapping, stakeholderanalysis, and requirements documentation. Willingness to learn new tools, methods, and technologies asneeded. Experience with common BA and project tools (e.g., ticketingsystems, workflow tools, Agile backlogs). For the Level II position: Strong verbal and written communication skills, includingfacilitation of complex discussions. Ability to navigate competing priorities and guide stakeholderstoward shared understanding. Experience applying business analysis techniques such asprocess modeling, gap analysis, and impact assessment. Familiarity with Agile or iterative deliveryenvironments. Working knowledge of change management concepts andorganizational impact. Experience with common BA and project tools (e.g., ticketingsystems, workflow tools, Agile backlogs).KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
For the Level I position: Fundamental knowledge of business analysis practices includingrequirements elicitation, documentation, and validation. Ability to gather information from stakeholders throughinterviews, observation, and structured discussion. Ability to document requirements, workflows, or user needsclearly and accurately. Strong written and verbal communication skills with technicaland non‑technical audiences. Ability to analyze problems, ask clarifying questions, andbreak down ambiguous issues into manageable components. Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams tosupport solution development. Ability to learn new systems, tools, and business domainsquickly. For the Level II position: Strong knowledge of business analysis practices includingrequirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, andvalidation. Ability to independently facilitate stakeholder discussions toclarify goals, needs, and constraints. Ability to analyze business processes and identifyopportunities for improvement or efficiency. Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to diversestakeholders. Ability to translate ambiguous or competing needs into clearrequirements and recommendations. Ability to manage requirements across a project lifecycleincluding prioritization and change tracking. Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills appliedto operational and technology initiatives. Position level (Business Analyst I or II) will be determined byeducation, experience, and demonstrated skills.
