Senior Aquatics Specialist (Non-Career)

Application Deadline Extended to June 1, 2026 The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Senior Aquatics Specialist (Non-Career) in the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide instruction in swim and serve as a lifeguard at assigned swimming facilities. You'll teach swim skills at all levels and supervise the conduct of swimmers in order to maintain health and safety standards. A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is: A minimum of two (2) summer/seasons in lifeguard or swim‑instruction experience in the organized recreational or educational program dealing with swim instruction, lifeguarding, or coaching. Other requirements include possession of a valid Water Safety Instruction card which requires an Advanced Life‑Saving Certificate and successful completion of first‑aid and CPR training. If you do not answer the supplemental questions accurately you will be automatically disqualified.
