Common procedures include CABG, TAVI, and management of heart failure cases such as VAD, ECMO, artificial heart, and heart transplants. The Surgical Technologist provides technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures. The technologist assists the surgical team from the scrub position during an operation. Responsible for proper care and handling of instruments and facilitating room turnover between cases. Maintains sterile technique, safe handling of sharps, and performs surgical counts as per policy. Demonstrates proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under the direction of a registered nurse. Two years of recent experience in a cardiac operating room is required.
