Instructional Assistant - Henderson, North Carolina

Job Description

Make a meaningful difference supporting elementary and middle school students as a contract paraprofessional this upcoming school year. In this rewarding assignment, you’ll work closely with students who have behavioral needs and autism, assisting their educational experience within a dynamic and supportive school environment. The position runs from ASAP through December 10, 2026, with flexible hours Monday through Friday—some days may be partial, allowing for a varied workweek.

Openings are available for both elementary (2–3 positions) and secondary middle school (1 position) assignment areas. You’ll collaborate with teachers and staff to create a positive, structured atmosphere while delivering individualized support to students.

Qualifications:

High school diploma required
Minimum of 48 hours of completed college-level coursework
At least two years of school-based experience as a paraprofessional
Experience working with students who present behavioral challenges and/or autism strongly preferred
Ability to collaborate with teachers, support staff, and special education professionals
Commitment to promoting student development and growth

Responsibilities:

One-on-one support for students, reinforcing learning objectives and classroom instruction
Assist with implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral intervention strategies
Foster a nurturing, inclusive environment that encourages student engagement
Provide redirection and assistance with daily activities and transitions
Maintain clear documentation on student progress and behavior
