Position Overview Job Title: Architect Full Performance Level: GS-14 Division: Finance & Facilities Division Unit: Real Property Management Section Locations: Washington, DC; Quantico, VA; Huntsville, AL Working Hours: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (Flexible) Job Type: Full Time / Permanent Eligible: All U.S. Citizens Salary GS‑13: $90,925.00 – $118,204.00 GS‑14: $107,466.00 – $139,684.00 (base salary; locality pay applies) Job Summary The National Capital Region Section: Provides timely, suitable, modern, safe, and secure working environments/facilities and quality support services for the HQ divisions in Washington, DC. The Real Property Management Section: Administers professional facilities management, including engineering, design research; construction; spatial modification solutions; maintenance; energy monitoring; and logistical services for FBI Academy tenants. The Redstone Facilities Services Section: Responsible for planning, construction, occupancy, facilities, and services across the FBI Redstone campus, Huntsville. The Field Operations Support Section: Provides real‑estate and facility support for FBI field office portfolios and international locations; supports fleet inventory and firearms range program. Major Duties Design, plan, evaluate, and coordinate construction and alteration of FBI facilities. Provide architectural expertise for planning and budgeting of office space and maintenance facilities; advise officials, managers, and specialists. Liaise with FBI, other government stakeholders, and contract A/E firms; coordinate plan and specification reviews. Set architectural standards for FBI facilities, including space planning; serve as professional advisor on structural and life‑safety requirements. Develop working drawings, specifications, and construction details for in‑house projects; review contractor cost estimates. Travel to project sites, conduct onsite reviews, collect data, coordinate with local FBI representatives and other agencies. Senior technical authority on architectural matters for all FBI facilities nationwide (GS‑14 level). Provide guidance, training, and oversight to lower‑level architects; evaluate performance and provide input to unit management. Key Requirements U.S. citizen Must obtain a Top Secret clearance Valid Driver’s License (or ability to obtain one) Some travel may be required Verify completion of basic education requirement by submitting college transcripts before the closing date Basic Requirements Degree in architecture or related field with at least 60 semester‑hours of coursework, including 30 semester‑hours in architectural design and at least 6 semester‑hours each in structural technology, materials & construction methods, and environmental control systems. Or equivalent combination of education and experience meeting the detailed criteria below. Specialized Experience (SE) GS‑13: At least one year of SE equivalent to GS‑12 level, including ability to prepare and interpret scaled design contracts, floor plans, shop drawings, and abstract reasoning for space requirements. GS‑14: At least one year of SE equivalent to GS‑13 level, with mastery of advanced architectural concepts and contract administration skills. Work Environment Generally performed in an office setting; meetings and onsite inspections may involve exposure to construction activity.
