A Brief Overview
This entry-level research technical role participates in a planned research projects by performing research protocols, experimental procedures and other laboratory tasks under direct supervision. May occasionally exercise minimal discretion and judgment in execution and interpretation of experiments, and of data derived.

The Raymond G. Perelman Center for Cellular and Molecular Therapeutics (CCMT) is dedicated to the understanding, development, and application of gene and related cell and nucleic acid therapies and the promotion of professional and public education in the field. The CCMT fosters a multidisciplinary approach among researchers and scientists working to discover new gene and cell therapies in search of cures for debilitating and life-threatening disorders. The Davidson Laboratory, an integral part of the CCMT, studies neurodegenerative disorders with the goal of finding long term therapies.

We are looking for a Research Technician to work alongside scientists investigating neurological developmental and degenerative diseases. The ideal candidate will have laboratory experience and knowledge of molecular biology. Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA/RNA isolation desired. The technician will be trained in next generation sequencing library preparation, tissue culture work, molecular cloning, and proteomics such as western blotting. Prior experience in any of these specialties is a plus.

What you will do

• Performs routine tests / experiments under the direction of principal investigator, supervisor or other designee
• Performs research procedures on experimental samples as directed
• Records and checks experiments/ results for completeness and accuracy
• Performs calculations and maintains appropriate log and lab notebooks
• Performs tasks that require familiarity with fundamental techniques and lab equipment
• Perform tissue culture work with various cell lines
• Prepare next generation sequencing libraries
• Perform molecular cloning
• Perform protein analysis
• May assist with planning specific research protocols and procedures
• Maintains office, lab area, solutions, reagents, supplies and equipment, disposes of specimens, media and other materials (using appropriate procedures)
• Assists in care and maintenance of lab equipment
• May coordinate schedules of tests and procedures
• Attends courses, seminars, and lab meetings to expand knowledge of research and laboratory techniques
• Records results, organizes data and maintains lab notebook in an organized manner
• Compiles and helps analyze data, prepares charts, graphs, and results of studies as directed
• Conducts literary searches as directed

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED Required
• Associate's DegreePreferred
• Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Experience Qualifications

• At least one (1) yearof related classroom experience or successful completion of a technical training program (eg. Wistar, WPSI) and research laboratory experienceRequired
• At least two (2) yearsof related classroom experience or successful completion of a technical training program (eg. Wistar, WPSI) and research laboratory experiencePreferred

SALARY RANGE:

$43,900.00 - $54,800.00 Annually

Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
