Position Summary:
The WoundCareNurseisresponsible for theoverall follow upof allthe residents in thefacilitywithall types of wounds.
Functions:
- 1.Checksallnewadmissionsandreadmissionsforpresenceofwounds.
- 2.CoordinateswithallUnitManagersandNursingSupervisors forallnosocomialwounds.
- 3.Ensuresthattreatmentordersareinplace.
- 4.Monitorstheresponseofthetreatmentorders.
- 5.WeeklyWoundroundswithWoundDoctor.
- 6.InitiatestheindividualWoundcareplans.
- 7.Initiates andupdatestheweeklywoundtrackinganddistributestotheotherdepartments.
- 8.UpdatesandevaluatestheWoundcareplansquarterlyandwhenthereisasignificantchange.
- 9.Informs the NextofKinof the residents withwounds on admission, readmission, andin-house developed anddocuments in theprogress notes.
- 10.Ensuresthattheresidentwithwoundshavespecializedmattressandoff-loadingdevices.
- 11.CoordinateswithRehab Departmentforpositioningdevices.
- 12.CoordinateswiththeDieticianforthenutritionalneeds.
- 13.CoordinateswiththeAttendingDoctorsforbloodvaluesandchangesinthetreatmentorders.
- 14.Coordinates withtheUnit Managers andSupervisors in ensuringthat treatments are done,and specialized mattresses andoff-loadingdevices are in-place.
- 15.Makesaweekly auditfor off-loadingdevicesandspecial mattresses andreports to the Director of Nursing her/his findings.
- 16.AssisttheNursingDepartmentasneeded.AsperthedirectiveoftheDNSandorADNS.
