Chief Operating Officer (COO) / EVP of Operations
Location: Metro Detroit, MI | Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Job Summary
Duo-Gard, a manufacturer of custom architectural canopies, transit shelters, translucent wall systems, and bicycle shelters, is seeking an experienced COO or EVP of Operations to lead manufacturing and operational improvements. This executive will drive manufacturing efficiency, supply chain performance, inventory optimization, and facility consolidation while building scalable processes to support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead manufacturing operations, production planning, scheduling, and supply chain management.
- Oversee a major facility consolidation and redesign manufacturing layouts and workflows.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Optimize inventory, purchasing, material flow, and working capital.
- Standardize products and manufacturing processes while supporting customized customer requirements.
- Establish operational KPIs to improve productivity, quality, safety, and on-time delivery.
- Develop operational leaders and collaborate with executive leadership on growth and profitability.
Required Qualifications
- 10–15+ years of manufacturing and operations leadership experience.
- Experience in custom manufacturing, engineered products, specialty fabrication, or a similar environment.
- Proven experience with plant consolidation, facility relocation, expansion, or major plant-layout projects.
- Strong Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement background.
- Experience managing manufacturing, supply chain, inventory, and production planning.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and financial/business acumen.
- Comfortable working hands-on in a small or mid-sized manufacturing business.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $150,000+, with flexibility up to $200,000 for the right candidate.
- Bonus: 20% target bonus based on individual and company performance.
- Equity: May be available for qualified candidates.
