Quality Assurance EngineerColorado Judicial is seeking a skilled Quality Assurance Engineer with strong foundational knowledge of manual testing and hands-on experience in automated testing. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, executing, and maintaining comprehensive test strategies, automated test scripts, performance testing, defect management, and quality assurance processes. The ideal candidate should have experience with Playwright, TypeScript, Java, k6, MCP, AI-assisted testing, developer tools, application logs, API testing, CI/CD pipelines, and test management platforms such as Zephyr Scale and GitLab. Candidates must be local to the Denver, Colorado area and available to work onsite one day per week at the Ralph Carr Judicial Center.Preferred Technical Skills:Agile Development Methodology: Proficient – 4–6 YearsJavaScript: Proficient – 4–6 YearsJSON: Proficient – 4–6 YearsSoftware Troubleshooting: Proficient – 4–6 YearsCommunication Skills: Proficient – 4–6 YearsIBM DB2 UDB: Novice – 1–3 YearsResponsibilities:Design, develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases.Translate business and functional requirements into detailed, efficient, and comprehensive test cases.Perform functional, regression, API, performance, exploratory, and other types of testing.Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright, TypeScript, Java, k6, MCP, AI-assisted testing, and other applicable tools.Design, implement, and enhance reusable enterprise-wide test automation frameworks.Apply data-driven, keyword-driven, hybrid, and BDD automation framework architectures.Use developer tools, application logs, requests/responses, stack traces, heap dumps, and other technical diagnostics to investigate issues.Utilize Google DevTools and application monitoring information to identify and trace defects to their source.Document detailed defect information and collaborate with developers to facilitate resolution.Integrate automated testing with version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and test management tools.Utilize Zephyr Scale, GitLab, and similar platforms for defect tracking and test progress management.Develop realistic performance test scenarios, including user journeys, parameterized data, and load models.Analyze test requirements and profile existing production data to support effective testing.Work with relational and NoSQL databases as required for testing and data validation.Execute predefined test cases and perform unscripted exploratory testing.Identify potential quality risks, assess impact and likelihood, and develop mitigation strategies.Proactively identify issues early in the software development lifecycle.Apply core testing techniques including boundary value analysis and equivalence partitioning.Manage defect lifecycles and verify defect resolution.Support quality assurance activities across Agile development methodologies.Systematically analyze complex processes to identify bottlenecks, waste, and variations and develop data-driven solutions.Collaborate effectively with software engineers, system personnel, management, and cross-functional teams.Attend required meetings and training sessions.Perform other duties as assigned.Maintain meticulous attention to detail throughout testing and quality assurance activities.Required Skills:Strong knowledge of manual testing principles, including test case design, functional testing, regression testing, API testing, performance testing, and defect management.Hands-on experience with test automation and automation framework development.Experience with Playwright, TypeScript, Java, k6, MCP, and AI-assisted testing.Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.Experience using developer tools and analyzing error logs, requests/responses, stack traces, heap dumps, and application logs.Experience translating high-level business and functional requirements into comprehensive test cases.Knowledge of QA standards, testing methodologies, and industry best practices.Experience identifying, assessing, and mitigating quality risks.Experience with data-driven, keyword-driven, hybrid, and BDD test automation frameworks.Experience integrating automated tests with Git/version control, CI/CD pipelines, and test management tools.Experience with Zephyr Scale, GitLab, or similar test management and defect tracking platforms.Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.Experience with specialized test data management and data governance platforms is preferred.Experience with functional testing and exploratory testing.Ability to design and execute performance test scenarios and load models.Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work effectively with software engineers, system personnel, management, and cross-functional teams.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and testing strategies.Meticulous attention to detail.Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 3 years of relevant quality assurance/automated testing experience OR 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Software Engineer within the Colorado Judicial Department.Additional relevant work experience may be substituted for the required formal education on a year-for-year basis.Work Location:1300 Broadway, Suite 1100 Denver, CO 80203 Hybrid position. 1 day per week onsite at the Ralph Carr Judicial Center. Candidate must be local to the Denver, CO area. Client has indicated that candidates willing to relocate to Colorado may be considered. Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM MST. 40 hours per week.
