POSITION SUMMARY


Provides recommendations and consultations with other team members requiring advanced knowledge base and extensive clinical experience. A high degree of critical thinking, analysis and independent judgment required, working autonomously and collaborating within the interdisciplinary team environment. Supervises and evaluates the work activities of nursing personnel, as directed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.Effective collaboration and consultation with psychiatry team, case managers and medical director to manage complex symptoms


2.Develops strategies to overcome barriers to pain and symptom management

3.Identifies outcomes and critically analyzes complex assessment data and diagnoses relative to risk, benefit, burden and cost

4.Liaison for the local medical community relaying and exchanging patient information necessary for continuity of care

5.Provides evidence-based physical, psychosocial, and emotional care

6.Creates climate of trust to provide guidance and instruction to the patient and family on appropriate interventions to manage complex symptoms

7.Prescribes medications


8.Orders, performs and interprets common screening and diagnostic tests if indicated with the goal of care for palliation of symptoms

9.Written documentation complies with state and federal regulations

10. Incorporates ethical principles, professional standards and codes of ethics in providing care; role-modeling behavior for other healthcare professionals

11. Offer interdisciplinary support to psychiatry team

12. Work independently; as well as with the public

13. Read and interpret medical records, reports and instructions

14. Willingness to learn

PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILILTIES

Education/Experience

Required:

Successful completion of an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) program with emphasis in psychiatric care

Maintains certification & licensure requirements according to state & federal law

Current CPR certification

3 or more years of professional nursing experience preferred.

Must be Arizona fingerprint/certified or ability to obtain certification. Lack of certification status as per licensing standards is grounds for immediate dismissal.


Must have valid Arizona driver's license and insurance clearance to drive clinic vehicle if applicable.

Minimum age 21.

The physical demands of this position warrant: Medium Work; Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
