Job Title: Senior Specialist, Electrical Engineer (RF Design) Job Code: 41933 Job Location: Rochester, NY Job Schedule: 5/8: Employees work 8 hours per day, 5 days a week Job Description: As a member of the Product Support Engineering team, you will be tasked with investigating a variety of problems related to: RF/Analog circuitry, assembly, SMT and test. A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of radio transmitter and receiver design is required. You will collaborate across multifunctional teams to diagnose problems to component level, determining solutions via simulation and experimentation and implementing corrective actions. You will be tasked with leading and mentoring junior engineers, being the go-to person for all things RF. In addition, the successful candidate will work closely with the RF design teams to design out obsolete or long lead components Typical tasks include: Mentoring and guiding junior staff, assisting them as they investigate problems and perform simulations. Leading investigations and coordinating tasks. Detailing design tradeoffs and ensuring that the products performance is aligned with the product specification and industry standards. Mitigating component shortages through qualifying alternatives or redesigning circuits and sub-assemblies. Working with design engineering and manufacturing teams to introduce new designs into manufacturing. Working with design engineering to make necessary circuit changes prior to and during the launch of new products. Troubleshooting units, modules, and assemblies to the component level, and implementing changes to reduce failures. Improving product performance and implementing cost improvements outlining design tradeoffs and risks. Essential Functions: Hardware troubleshooting ability including analog and RF components and circuits. Ability to design and conduct engineering experiments and act upon test results. Design and analysis of circuits and components utilizing ADS, Matlab, and various design and simulation tools. Hold training session with junior staff regarding simulations, actual bench measurements, and how to reconcile the differences between the models and the circuit design. Ability to use typical lab equipment: Oscilloscope, DMM, Spectrum & Network Analyzers, and signal generators. Able to analyze designs and communicate technical information to support staff. Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance. Qualifications: Bachelors Degree and minimum 7 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 11 years of prior related experience. A high-level RF knowledge, and design and troubleshoot experience is required. Preferred Additional Skills: Electrical engineering degree. Experience with tactical Radio and Power Amplifier HW. Experience troubleshooting to component level. Working knowledge of LabVIEW, ADS and Jira. In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $92,500 - $171,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
